Do you think being reported to chexsystems is bad? More and more people are telling me that they are being denied accounts not because of chexsystems, but due to EWS. This seems to be happening more with credit unions than banks from what I can tell. There are some that are opening accounts and later within a week to 30 days, the accounts are being closed due to EWS. I decided to look into it more so because these people are on chexsystems so how have they been reported to EWS? I thought to myself, how can EWS have the information from chexsystems?

Chexsystems verifies your checking activity and functions as a consumer credit reporting agency. Most banks and credit unions use it when opening a new deposit account. Because Chexsystems is a CRA, it is your right to dispute with chexsystems. Just as you can ask for one free credit report every year, you can also ask for a Free chexsystems report once a year. As a consumer, you can question any information in Chexsystems, and you can also dispute entries and the evidence that supports the reported activity. Is Chexsystems a fair system?

Can I be sued in TN over a charged off account that has fallen off my credit report? The debt was acquired in GA.

We (wife and I) have about $70K in credit cards. We both have credit scores +700. We are never late on any bill or payments. Our take home income is +$7700/month. I would like to know what the best solution is to get rid of these credit cards without our credit taking a hit? I seriously dont believe the credit card companies will participate in debt settlement since we are never late on our payments. I also dont believe any bank will give a $70,000 unsecured loan. I am not a for using a secured loan (ie home equity) to pay off unsecured debt. Any suggestions?

I know most people would say to not withdraw money or take a loan on a 401K account, but wouldn't it be better than going to settlement and ruining your credit rating? Part of me really wants to do this so we can avoid major negative marks on our record. Money is tight right now but in five months, our cars are paid for and my husband is gaining additional work. These things would help with overall cash flow each month. So if we can make it through six months, we'll be doing better. Does that make sense?
