WE HAVE CONSIDERABLE DEBT THAT HAS ADDED UP OVER THE LAST FEW YEARS DUE TO BAD LUCK(CAR ACCIDENTS, SURGERIES, FUNERALS, LAYOFFS), AND WE JUST CAN'T SEEM TO GET AHEAD JUST FURTHER BEHIND. I WENT BACK TO WORK AND NOW ALL OF A SUDDEN THEY HAVE NO WORK FOR ME AND WE ARE BACK TO SQUARE ONE. WE ARE TIRED OF FEELING STRAPPED ALL THE TIME AND NOT HAVING MONEY FOR OUR KIDS TO DO ANYTHING. I HOPE THERE IS HELP FOR US. THANKS

If I am responsive on my phone to their calls, will they leave my references alone when I default? I haven't defaulted yet, but will this friday (I closed my account, and dont want any phone calls going to coworkers or my parents.

I have recently been sent a letter of collection, so, I sent off a DV (because for the life of me, I cannot remember getting bills for this!) So, 5 months later, I have FINALLY received the last statement, which is dated 2003, and now, the collection agency (which seems to be a law firm?) is telling me I owe 4000+. How can I deal with this? I cannot possibly afford 4000.00!! I can possibly pay off the 911.00. Is there a letter I can send, or do I have to call them? I am just beside myself. Thanks!!

my bank account was frozen by a collection agency & i owe credit card around $9,500 and on the credit report was showing charge off on those account, if i want to settle this case, what is the best way to do it and i live in new work state. thank you!

Ok so I sent a Vod letter to attorney working for the collection agency . My question is If they do send validation (the debt is mine) . What is My next step ?? Do I try to work out a payment plan??? And also how do you receive a summons??? Does a prosses server come and serve you. I dont want it to get to that point. but Just asking just in case .

My husband and I owe about $140,000 in credit card debt on 19 different accounts. We stopped paying them all about two months ago because we no longer have enough income to keep them current. We had hoped to avoid BK and somehow save enough money to settle the accounts instead. However, Chase has already moved my husband's account to their pre-litigation department and are threatening to move it to the legal department and proceed with a lawsuit if we don't bring the account current in the next couple of weeks.

I am trying to find out if this company is Legal. Their address is in Costa Rica. I have so far paid them 400 on a 200 dollar loan. I live in Tennessee so I need to know if they are licensed in any state.

When requesting verification through the credit bureaus, should I send a separate letter for each account to each of the 3 bureaus at the same time or should I stagger it out?
