have anyone one used them to help with DM????

So I finally did it: I started to fight back against the PDL companies. But I'm scared stiff. I have four debts totaling $1830. I signed up with a payday loan debt management company called Progressive. They seemed pretty professional and the response was quick. Anyways, I'm jumping ahead. I talked to Progressive and they told me to close my checking account, which I did (sort of).

I have done a fair amount (OK, perhaps a bit obsessive) of research on the whole debt settlement industry and still have a few questions. This site has been very helpful from the start, and recommended a company that we are considering going with. First, a bit of background. Wife and I are both employed, good jobs, well paid. credit card debt - accumulated through bad discipline, first marriages, etc. - is close to $70K. A few cards are 30-60 days past due. Perhaps something a little unique is that it is a lot of smaller cards - store cards, etc.

Hey everyone, I used to post on a regular basis here when I was going through a ton of garbage like most of you are now. I too got harassed daily by the scum of the earth known as debt collectors. I had well over $10k in credit card and PDL debt and it was very tough for me to make ends meet. Was it buy food or shut up a debt collector? Well folks, in case you haven't noticed the past tense in the above paragraph, I am here to say that I am nearly debt free! I am now down to just under $3,000 in debt to go with a card that is with Resurgent/LVNV.

This morning I called 888-622-0222, the recording stated it was Phoenix but when I called back again the lady said that this is NRS. She was collecting for a payday loan company and told me I had until 2:00 to call her back with a account number. I live in NC where payday loans are illegal. The companies she is calling for either recieved a letter, fax or an e-mail telling them that I will only pay the amount that I borrowed. If anyone has a mailing address for this company please post it. Thanks

I searched but the last fax# was from 2006.

I got a call from a Chris from 866-489-0979 and he left a message saying I did something illegal in regards to my PNC checking account and I needed to contact him immediately to discuss etc..etc.. I called him back at the # 800-351-8820 I borrowed $100 months ago and paid about $150 on it. He says I owe $200. I told him I wanted it marked paid in full per my letter (C&D and letter stating to revoke wages etc.. and my complaints to the BBB and AG) that he read back to me on the phone. He said I had no legal standing since the extra money tacked on where not fees, but extensions on a loan.

I am thinking of doing debt settlement on my own. I am barely making all my payments. Non over 2 weeks late yet but its getting harder and harder to make them on time. This is what I am thinking and please tell me if this sounds like a good plan and if it actually does sound like it is a doable plan. I have about $20,000 on four credit cards.

You know, all these problems I've got has made me read a lot more on the internet, here on the board, etc...And I ask myself, "WHAT THE **** was I thinking when I took out this cash call loan, I must have been comatose!! That's water under the bridge now and I'll just have to deal with that, but honestly how do they stay in business?
