Here is a list of the lenders, I sent letters and closed my accounts but they are telling me that the refinance fees are not considered as part of the principal. Some have not responded. Cashnet/NLS when I called to check my account it no longer exists does this mean they are going to put it to collections or stop trying?

Did I read somewhere that Geneva Roth IS licensed? Aren't they Loanpoint?? How does that affect the battle? I'm in KY.

Has anyone recovered their retainer fees from a DS company if they switch to another company? I am told if you threaten to report them to the Dept. of Consuemer Affairs, the BBB, and their stat AG,they will buckle and refund the money. Anybody have any experience with this?

Yesterday evening I got a recorded message on my home phone from the Law office of Kristin Swanson Mace; they also left a voicemail message on my work phone # yesterday evening after I'd gone home for the day. Well - considering this was the first call I received from them, it's hardly surprising, huh? Anyhow - I "googled" their # and also did a search at this site, and it appears there IS such a firm in Florida.

Right now I am paying things on time. Minimum pmts. Interest rates ballooned to 29.9% I just want to pay the evil things off. Where do I start? I really think the counselling is great, but have heard that it shows up on credit report. Is this true?

Right off the bat, I'd like to say, they are a business. debt settlement companies don't hire attorneys, fight to negotiate lower settlements on your behalf and not expect to profit from it. This is the way it works, companies that do debt settlement settle with banks, credit card companies, medical bills, personal loans, ect. Let me give a hypothetical situation, let's say our attorneys are negotiating on behalf of 50 people with Capitol One and they owe (on average) $15,000. That's $750,000 the attorney negotiates down.
