Should I consolidate my credit cards with a credit card?

Should I max out my credit cards to buy myself a few extra months before they lower my available balance? Can I call my largest credit card and get them to raise my limit by transfering over all my other credit cards into it and closing them, thereby having one payment? This will lower my payment and it seems that it would be good business decision for the credit card. I am worried however that they will put up a red flag on my account and limit it anyway. what do you think.

Re-opening a Cap One card?

I have a Cap One CC account, that I defaulted on back in 2003. The notation on my CR says "charged off" but there is no collection agency listed on my report that would be for this account. My question is this: How do I, and would they, consider re-opening my account, so that I can start paying on it, while keeping it open? Like, I wouldn't use it at all, just pay it down, and then, when it reaches $0, I could start to use it again, to build my credit back up? Does Cap One usually go for things like this? What do you think my chances are, and how would I go about doing this?

Status change on a closed/paid account?

Hi everyone, I had an account with a furniture store, which, admittedly, I was late paying a few times. I opened the account back in 2001. Paid on it for about 2 years, like I said, a few lates, but eventually paid it all off. My question is regarding how they are reporting this account. Instead of "paid" it says the status is "30 days overdue" which is NOT true, because I paid it off in 2003. How do I get them to change the status? Thanks.

Charge-offs

Can I still do a settlement program even after the company has 'charged off? (whatever that means) One company offered me a 35% settlement to keep the account from being charged off, but the monthly payment they wanted was more that I can afford. They said if I couldn't pay them that, there was nothing else they could do but let it go. We're so far behind now, I don't know what to do. This is the second company in a month to threaten to sue... At least these guys were nice about it! :?

How to handle numerous accounts with same creditor?

Hi, I have a credit line of $4,199 and credit card of $1,595 with Wells Fargo. My husband also has a credit card with Wells Fargo. Do we settle these accounts separately or present them all together? what has been your experience? oh and just to note, my husband and I are trying to settle this ourselves.
