Hi all -- First post here and looking for sage advice. So here is my story. I am currently a graduate student and married (nearing our big 2 year anniversary!). My wife and I starting accumulating credit card debt several years ago and, to make a long story short, are about 18000 under. We are barely (and I mean by shear luck) making the monthly payments -- minimums at that -- and we are looking for alternatives. I have never missed a payment and have no negative marks on my credit report.

When I was 18, 12 years ago, I signed up for the army and they had my SS card and birth certificate. When it came time to sign the papers and join, I was disqualified because of my medical problems, I really wanted to get in and I hid the fact. The next day I called and they said they lost my papers. I thought about it last night and am thinking that may be someone is using my information and ruining my credit.

I remember a last year when I went to buy a car and the guy pulled my credit report. I asked him if I should just pay the accounts that are charged off. He said HELL NO. He told me to dispute it with the credit bureaus and that the original creditor will not have enough time to verify it and it will get removed. Does that work with the original creditor if the debt was charged off and purchased by a debt collector? Does the original creditor still have the information or is it gone?

Has anyone ever gotten a phone call and all it says on the caller id is 705 or sometimes 99999 if so does anyone know what it is? Thanks!

Anyone worked with debt settlement usa? I already tried to view any posts about them on this site, but could not find anything. Any information good or bad would be appreciated. I don't know where they are from so I can check them out on BBB.

I have been monitoring and working on improving my crdit for 5 years now since my divorce and my ex-husband ruined my credit ... So I belong to truecredit (along the years I have done MyFico, Identity Guard, BofA Monitoring, etc) and I stay on top of my changes and watch my score ... Monday afternoon I updated my score & report - I get all 3 agencies and I am well aware that the 3 reporting agencies often vary. Monday night I went to a car dealership to buy a new car, they pulled up my experian report and gave it to me to review.

I got a call from them on Monday telling me of an credit card account I got with Aspire Credit Card. I owe them $600. I think the original limit was $300. I have set up a payment plan with them with the first payment of $169 to be paid this Friday. I did not give them any information I will send it by Western Union. I filed Chapter 7 bankruptcy in 2000 and I think I got that card in 2003 before I was discharged. I was wondering does this account fall under the bankruptcy I have? Does anyone have a answer for this.

NRS-Does anyone have an address or fax number for this company. They just called me and then my husband threatening a wage assignment and if we don't pay the pdl we have with arrowhead then we will go to court. My husband asked for the address and Tina Watkins would not give it so we could send a DV - she said they were not a collection agency. She also kept talking about a 5/10 does anyone know what that is? She was very rude and yelled. Here is the number she gave me 888-622-0222. Does anyone know a sample revoke for wage assignment I could use to give to my payroll dept?
