Does anyone know if there is a time limit on how long a company can let something lay in the court house once you have answered a summons. I got notice of arbitration months ago, it was supposed to be back in february, it has not happened yet. The original summons was filed back in december 2006, the arbitration was filed in december 2007, how long can they leave this loom over my head. A person has 20 days to answer a summons, a company should have to act in a certain amount of time too.

Almost 4 years ago I bought a car through a shady car dealership that did in house financing and got it repoed 6 months later. My fault, I know. I hadn't heard from the dealership seeking money since they repoed it but a couple months ago they started calling my offfice. Asking people at my office about me, including my boss and my HR dept trying to find out how much money I made. I verbally told her not to call back and she did anyway. Im in CA and I borrowed $400 from Vip Cash/Qloot. Since receiving the $400 I've paid a total of $480 in fees. Are they legal in CA? What should I do? Sorry I posted my previous post in the wrong Forum.

I am a bill collector at an agency in atlanta , ga i stumbled onto this site from a search for bud hibbs who is well known throughout the collection field as lying scum and i can speak from personnel experience that they are some bill collectors that are scum that do lie that do cheat and steal and that i would say the majority of these people are a pain to deal with but at the same time the people i have to deal with to do my job are also scum who lie cheat and steal so in this business where u have crooks on both side of the fence i would say its in every bodies best interest just to pay the

I've already posted pretty extensively about this particular CA. They're trying to collect on a debt that I don't owe. They've given me no proof about the debt. At this point I can't even argue identity theft, since I'm not sure the debt is real at all.

I'm really starting to consider filing for Chapter 7, but I need some advice. My husband and I have about $10,000 (or more) in unsecured debt, $20,000 in student loans, and $15,000 in car loans. Since he lost his job, the unsecured debt has had to go untouched and I'm starting to get some really harassing phone calls and lawsuit threats. We rent our home right now, and with the economy and our credit scores, that isn't going to change anytime soon. When you file Chapter 7, what does that include? At this point, the unsecured debt is all I'm worried about.
