I have a creditor who has finally found me. My last payment date was 1-21-04 on this debt. The debt was accrued in California, and I live in California. I have found out the the SOL for California is 4 years. So basically I have found out that they can't sue me correct? The CA is The Law Office of Vincent Cignarlae. I am at a point in my life where I can begin to repair my credit. With the debt being this old, is it in my best interests to pay, or should I send a C&D letter, and just wait for it to fall off of my CR in 7 years or so? I'm new here, so any info would be great!

I signed up with Care One credit to get a handle on my charged off cards, but now I'm wondering if this was a bad decision. I am planning on buying a house later this year and I'm wondering if this will bad ly affect my credit?

Can someone actually explain the difference between these to me? I know the basics (consolidation pays off in full, settlement a percentage), but what about as far as effect on your credit, will i be able to get say a car loan within a year or so on the program (one of my definite goals), etc? I read so much about what these things are and they always seem to conflict with one another

I recently had some work done on my car which is a 2003 jeep liberty. it came back that it had to have a new motor put in it. It cost me 2600 to have this done. The place i had it done was a business that my sisters boyfriends brother owned. I have known him for over 14 years. We had agreed to write 4 different check to pay for the work. the checks were post dated in the amount of a little over 600 each. he was not supposed to deposit the checks until the dates on them. the 1st 2 checks he deposited a couple of days before the date on the checks which in turn made my account go negative.

These guys are killing me. I can't get a total $ owed, and even though i asked them not to, they are calling me at work. I know the rules on that, but I need to know if there is anyway I can revoke the authorization I gave for them to access my checking account.

When I was out on leave last fall I fell into the internet payday loan trap. Want to pay to get out of it, but can't pay it all at once. My checking account is closed (by bank, not me b/c of NSFs) I am in Ohio. I have a couple of storefronts but I think I have those worked out.

I rarely give out my debit card number online(Netflix, auto insurance company, and paypal) and today I noticed an unauthorized debt for $8.95 by Realhome dot com. The website looks legit but is this some kind of running scam? I have no idea how this website got my number as today was the first time in my life going to this site. Luckly my bank took care of this debt but I'm just curious. Thanks

I recently got a summons from a debt collector. I also got a copy of my credit report and this company put it 3 times on my report for the same debt. is this legal and what do I do? I thought I paid it off a few years ago but apparently not. the debt is from 2002 and the summons was served in 2008. The "company name" has the same debt, account number and other info on my credit report. there is also a different one for the same debt. I looked up this company and heard they are really bad people, bottom feeders to be exact.

Hi everyone! I'm looking for some info on forgetadebt. I have been searching the web for a reputable settlement company. We have about $65,000 in unsecured debt and I can't take it anymore. I don't want to file bankruptcy, but we can't continue to make the payments and afford to live (we are a family of 6).
