when you do an online loan, are you agreeing to the terms of the state they are in or the state you live in?

I have had now for 4 years a medical debt that is now derogatory. I have a settlement offer from a collections agency for 60% off of the total balance. Ive read many horror stories about people paying off the debt, but it still shows on the credit report. What is the best way to handle this collection? Directly with the original debtor or with the new collection agency? I cannot seem to find information on the original company.

We were only able to catch up on our house and vehicles. There were several credit cards and with all the fees they added on it did not even resemble the original amount owed. One of the credit cards has sued me and placed a judgement on my credit.

Hello, Thank you for such a wonderful forum. I have been reading a lot and learning! I am trying very hard to get us out of debt. We bought this house almost 2 years ago, it was a stretch but within our means. Well my husband lost his job last year and was working low paying jobs for 3 months after that. He has now found a new job with close to his old salary but we incurred some pretty heavy duty expenses in those 3 months, as well we some credit card debt that was really foolish before that. I am working 2 jobs and trying to take care of my family.

I got a call from PayDayLoanYes. I asked them to send me a letter showing what principal I still owed. Then she gets ALL crazy: Her:You didn't care if it was legal when you borrowed! Me: Er, well, actually... Her: This is a felony. You wrote a bad check over state lines! Me: I actually didn't write you a check, I... Her: You're going to be prosecuted! Me: Well, that's where your wrong. State law states that... Her: We're not located in your state! You better... Me: I don't have to listen to you, nor do I have to be talked to like this.

When you are advanced money, you are acknowledging: 1) You have an upcoming paycheck, and 2) there will sufficient funding in your account on the date agreed to cover your loan and fees. We take a big chance on you. Your credit is crap. Either honor your commitments or don't borrow from us. You can go see Big Al down the street. We won't break your kneecaps like he will, though. We'll just prosecute you for fraud.

Will this debt consolidation effect my credit?

I got this email from Westbury on Tuesday. I know I need to call them today but need advise on how to handle the situation. I've looked at all of my bank statements. They claim I owe $330 but after looking at all my records I've paid them at least $600.00 and possibly even more if they hit my account under a different company as well. I'm at my wit's end dealing with these people. I'm in California ... please advise!

I found a site that you can earn some extra money on. But - It's kinda wierd. I started it 2 months ago, and just got my first check last week. I didn't want to post about it until the check cleared. You get money for doing surveys and offers. Some of the surveys are not "real" surveys, but if you just keep clicking no to all the offers you do get through it. They also give you money for signing up for things like ebay, efax, stuff like that. Most of them are free trials, so you can cancel before you get charged. But you have to be careful, there are some that you will get charged.

Hi everyone you have helped before and I'm back with yet another question. I received a notice fm a law firm back in November '07 stating that I owed outstanding debt, blah blah blah...so I sent a debt validation request via certified mail. Yesterday, I finally received a letter from the attorney stating that he received my correspondence.
