Another way to tell that bankers have no clue what they do

I am so sick and tired of hearing people tell me the reason they use chexsystems is because the patriot act tells them they HAVE to use chexsystems, the only thing the patriot act tells them they have to do is verify identity. Not that they have to use Chexsystems.

Help! Had just started to fight...and slipped!

18 years 3 months ago
First, my thanks to everyone on these boards for sharing your wisdom and hard-earned experience. I finally found the courage to fight all of my PDLs. Froze the bank account, wrote the letters, filed the BBB complaints. Had just stepped into some freedom when something came up, and I (stupidly) decided to hit a very small loan one more time under the new bank account. (I know - NOTHING could be a more poor choice.) I don't even want to post the name of the PDL; that's how paranoid and worried I am right now.

Need advice quickly!

I have been burnt by 3 settlement companies. They all got me sued by collection companies. Now the third settlement company told me they were settling my Discover account which was with an attorney/collector but now I find out I have a judgement against me from Discover which I will pay because the owner/employee told me I did not have to appear in court - wrong! What should I do about the other $30,000 in various credit card debt? File bankruptcy, settle myself - what do you suggest? I have not paid on these accounts in over a year so I sure do not want any more lawsuits!

Dealing with original creditor

I have a 3 year old charged off credit card that has not been sold to a collection agency. The original balance was about $200--of course now it's over $700. I would like them to validate this debt--should I send them the DV letter?
