Ok I have a question I live in Arizona and I recieved a call from a person claiming to be a lawyer telling me they were trying to collect a credit card debt from me of about 6000 $$$. The debt is from my wife who I have been separated from and had nothing to do with debt, she bought a car with the card and has nt made a payment in 2years. I'm not sure how the law works since were still married am I responsible for this debt. They threatened wage garnishment, can they do this without taking me to court??

It has been 2 months since i defaulted on my online pdl's. I sent out the initial letter that you all suggested. i received one response from loan shop/westbury ventures shortly after that from a Tom Morrow. I have not heard a thing from either of them now for over a month. Should i be concerned or what do you think is going on with that?

I located this online it is link deleted . I have spoke with them they are a debt settlement company based out of sanfrancisco ca. They say they take car of all unsecured debt including pdls. Looking to see if anybody has heard of them if you have let me know. ishould be getting a fax sometime today letting me know more about the program. Thanks

i need to know if i can have a judgment against me dismissed for not being properly served for a lawsuit of a old credit card debt? its a credit card from city bank that i dont remember from 2000 and in 2006 i found out about the lawsuit when i wasnt in my apartment due to a fire but they had my mother's mailing address but i wasnt there i was staying in a shelter didnt trust the shelter for mail. she said that she didnt take the summons so they slid it under her door. this company call resurgence financial brought the account and they frozed my bank account and now i dont know what to do.

My brother owns about four credit cards. A year back he lost one of them and immediately got it reported. He also lodged a police complaint. Everything was fine and we knew the matter was taken care of. But now he is getting harassing phone calls to pay up for debts which he says he does'nt know of and we found out the debts are related to the credit card which was lost a year back. We tried explaining what happened but none of them are ready to listen. And the debt amount is increasing day by day. We don't know what is going to happen after this. Will they put my brother behind bars?

Hey! I just came across this site i think it's a great help for people like me. I had a taken a few loans earlier, confident that i will be able to pay them back on time. As luck would have it, i lost my job, and a stupid that i was, took another couple of loans to repay the earlier debts. Likewise i fell into a trap and presently i am neck deep in loans. I don't know how i am going to pull it off as though i have started earning again, little remains after tax deductions, rents, bills etc and i also have a family to support.

I live in Texas but i will have to move out for business and may even have to relocate in another country for a few months. I have taken professional help from a debt consolidating firm and payments have to be made every month. I do not want to run away from my debts, in fact i want to repay them as fast as i can. But how do i do that if i relocate? I can't even talk to the firm in case they stop me from going altogether. Help!

I got a $200 loan from Cash Today Ltd. in the summer of 2006 and paid it back, but the company says I didn't. I have bank records to show I did. They continued to try to take $ out of my bank account, but my bank alerted me and stopped the transactions. Now they are harassing me and saying I owe $2,600 and they will call my boss if I don't pay them. I know it's not legit but how do I get them to stop? Will they call my boss and embarrass me? I can't get an address to send them a letter revoking my wage assignment. If I e-mail them, does that work.
