Working on clearing the Negatives!

18 years 3 months ago
I've been looking into getting this taken care of here and there, and recent intense research has brought me here! This is my first post, and some of the stuff I've looked through makes good sense but I'm a bit less general in my questions, so maybe this great community can help! I'm in Colorado, have a total of 6 items I am trying to resolve, all are charge-off/collection items incurred due to lack of payment in 2004 when money became a major issue, most are from credit cards. I had excellent credit!

asked for validation on a account from capital one and he sent me the application which he stated was the credit application, customer agreement a scanned misaligned and had print running up the side of the page to i guess fit it all on one page lol.but he is calling this my contract, well i am no lawyer but a contract has to have a signature on it and even a date? he sent a ledger card to prove the amount of the debt to capital one bank but i do not think capital one is at a new york address that when googled is a collection agency.

debt collection info from Florida

18 years 3 months ago
How to Protect Yourself: Debt Collections/Consumer Source: The Florida Attorney General's Office You may have questions relating to debt collections if you are contacted by a "debt collector," someone who regularly tries to collect debts owed to others. A debt collector may contact you if you are behind in your payments to a creditor on a personal, family or household debt, or if an error has been made in your account. A debt collector may contact you in person, by mail, telephone, telegram, or fax.

collection letter says a judgement was ordered -

18 years 3 months ago
I never received a court summons, nor court documents advising me that a judgment was awarded against me beause I failed to show up in court. I checked my county records online & could pull up no judgement records against me. Is it possible they got a judgement in a county I do not reside in? The collection letter states that "the court awarded judgment plus interest" but they (First National Collection Bureau, Inc. / midland credit management) will settle for 60% if I pay 2 payments within 60 days.

Am I eligible for debt settlement with good credit?

18 years 3 months ago
I'm a small homebuilder and have finally sold a spec house I've been carrying for over a year. It's selling for less than I have in it, and since I earn my income from home sales, I have no income to show for the last two years. I'm basically unemployed and my wife brings home about 4000 a month. We have about 75 thousand in credit card debt, 160 thousand in commercial loans, and our home equity loan is maxed out at 250 thousand. I will receive approximately 150 thousand at the sale.

Greendot M/C

18 years 3 months ago
I have a qeustion about the Greendot cards. I recently started using a greendot mastercard since I cancelled my bank account and thus my direct deposit. I was hoping to have my paycheck direct deposited onto the card but my company dosn't allow that. But anyways, I bought something on-line using my card and was charged $4.95 for a "web based purchase" fee??? Do I have to pay 5 dollars everytime I buy something on-line?? I will call them tomorrow to find out, but I thought someone on here might know the answer.

Looking For Where To Start...

18 years 3 months ago
Hi, I just stumbled across this community, and thought I would give it a go. I'm 22, almost 23 years old. When I turned 21, I had great credit. I had one credit card that I was never late one, and I had a car payment I was never late on. That went on for a year or so, and then I bought a motorcycle. I had the bike for a year, and never missed a payment. Then there was an accident. I was making a U-Turn at a light, and a guy making a left at the opposing side of traffic ran a red light, and almost hit me. I accelerated to avoid him, and it sent me into a curb, which sent me into a pole.

Education plan

18 years 3 months ago
I am getting ready to go back to school in January to become a paralegal. I'll use that experience to get myself more familiarized with the ins and outs of the legal system. After that I am enrolling in prelaw then my state university of law. Once I pass the bar exam I am going to open my own practice specializing in consumer protection. This life course is chosen thanks to those on this forum. I am trying to help people on this forum but I want to do more, a lot more. So I am going to take the fight to the front lines into the court room.
