Collection Agencies Mistakenly Harass Debt Free Man

18 years 3 months ago
While he doesn’t owe any money, collection agencies have been harassing 82-year-old Willie Young for nearly two decades. His name is similar to a man who defaulted on his student load and now Young is paying the price. Young, a father of four who has been married to his wife for more than 50 years, built his house with his own two hands. He has never been in debt. "There is no mortgage, never been a mortgage,” Young told News 2. Young said he grew up in a time when people paid cash or they went without. “I never had any debt period.

Easy giftideas

We do not have a lot of money and so we make baked goods and send them out to our family members on our lists. We make literally dozens of cookies and candies at a time very cheaply. Everyone loves to eat, additionally, I have a small Christmas fund and I go to our local craft stores and get their 50% coupons all the time and little at a time buy the clear Christmas bulbs when they come out. I have cheap glass paint and paint them, really personalizing a Christmas ornament for every family member and fill it with confetti.

Help! I have been watching these boards and trying to begin the process of getting out of debt and cleaning up my credit report, but now I am in big trouble. I have several online payday loans and 3 store front ones, now the online ones screwed up my bank account so much that they managed to take all my rent money. Our credit is bad, both in low 500's so I know that my bank won't lend me money, but now I have no way to pay my rent and they are threatening to us out.

debt consolidation

HI! I'm new to this site, but looking over the contents it seems to be just what I'm looking for to help me with my debt problems. What type of experiences have you had with dealing with credit card companies directly when going through a financially difficult time?Or is it better to use a debt consolidation company? Also, if my income is several hundred dollars less than my monthly bills before any consolidation, how hard will it be to convince the cc companies to work with me,providing if all works out I would be able to meet the monthly payments?

Glad to see the new forum here. Most people know far too little about banking, and some banks have been ripping people off for years.

Debt Management

Well, so far I have contacted 2 debt management places. The first was a referral from this site. I currently have $5200 in credit card debt. They want a start-up fee of $199, then I make a monthly payment of $167--$30.00 of this is their monthly fee. They say they can get this debt paid off in 48 months. My concern with this place is they wanted my banking info right then, before I even got anything in writing. The other place I contacted is ClearPoint credit counseling. The have no start-up fee, and I pay $193 a month--$35.00 of this is their monthly fee.

Offer good or not??? Need Advice

I DV'd Unifund and they sent back all the required paperwork showing this debt is mine. The oustanding amount owed to them is 5835.92 They also sent me a settlement agreement letter saying if I payed 4669.00 by Novemeber 30th, my account will be marked as settled in full with a zero balance and reported as such to the CA'S. I still think the settlement they offered is too high being that Unifund is considered Junk Debt buyers and prably payed close to nothing for this account. Should I send them a letter saying i am willing to settle for 3000 and they will get it before Nov30th?
