I am working on coming up with a lump sum to settle my debts, which would be a HUGE relief. My dilemma is whether or not to continue working with a debt settlement company that I signed on with a few months ago. Having already been burned by HK, I am extremely hesitant. This company is different in that they negotiate settlement of the debt, and once you agree to the settlement figure, you actually send a check to creditor or CA to pay off the debt. This makes me feel better, since I know I am not handing over a huge sum of money to the settlement company.

I have a lot of old credit card debt form college, that has been delinquent for a couple years now. I want to do something about it, and since i still don't have much money i want to do it somewhat cheaply. I don't want to declare bankruptcy, and I want my credit to start getting better as soon as possible. what do i do??

Back in about 2001 when I moved out of an apartment complex, the complex determined that I owed some damages. Since I had not left a forwarding address, the bill ended up going to a collection agency and on my credit report for an original amount of about $1200. Discountadvances have called me at work 4 times today. My cell phone 2x and my home phone about 6 and then e-mailed me saying i must go to Western union right now and send $376.23 to them or legal action will be placed. I'm with langhourne and they already contacted them also last week I sent all the letters to them. Now they are saying they got nothing. And I must sent money now. is every company like this?
