Whats up with this letter from Capital One?

18 years 6 months ago
Ok to start, a few months ago, NCO was contacting me about a charge off from Capital One. Fine, so I sent off the DV letter. Get nothing in return. Skip ahead to june and now I get a letter from Viking Collections. So I guess NCO sold the account to them. Fine, so I sent off a DV letter to them. So last week I get a letter in the mail from Capital One. Here's what it said (leaving out parts I don't want posted on the internet) Quote:
Dear (My name here), Thank you for contacting us.

The AG is working!

18 years 6 months ago
OMG! I'm sooo excited! I was wondering why Eastside Lenders contacted me after so long. And now I know why. I received a letter in the mail today from National Opportunities. It was a response to the complaint they received from my state AG! Now, the National Opportunities issue I had gotten resolved through the BBB. However, this just shows my AG is hitting these pdl's! I'm absolutely POSITIVE that's why Eastside contacted me. I sent everything in around the same time and got my response letters from the AG around the same time.

Reverse Phone Book Warning

18 years 6 months ago
An article came accross on my email today that was printed in a trade publication which I find more than a little disturbing. Google has launched a reverse phone book where you type in a phone number and it gives you the persons name and address. If you click mapquest it takes you right to where the person lives. Imagine if your child gave out or lost something with his or her phone number and the wrong person got it. Or say you returned a phone call and hung up when the wrong person answered like a collection agency. They know who called and exactly where you live.

Debt verification letter sent -- they responded -- now what?

18 years 6 months ago
Hi, I sent a debt validation letter to a CA. They responded by sending me a "balance forward" of the original debt. No detail - no nothing. Just the original creditor's name. Is this ok? Don't they need to provide more than that??

pdl nightmare

18 years 6 months ago
I have been reading posts for acople of days and joined. I am in so far over my head I can not sleep or eat. Most of my paycheck is going toward pdls. On top of that I am mad at myself for getting into this mess. I so want to put and end to this but have no idea how to begin and much of what you are talking about is new to me. I have been researching T&C and Langhorn but am not sure if it would be better to go through a company or work on this myself. I am afraid if they start calling my work I will loose my job and I do not want to have to explain any of this to my boss.
