I had a very rude woman (and I use that term loosely) call me from this place at work and tell me I had to pay her by 2:30 that day or my husband's and I's personal information will be "downloaded" to the state where we live and we will go to court and end up paying 1600 bucks for a 450 dollar PDL check that we defaulted on. We both got a loan thrugh ACE Check Express and couldn't pay them back because my husband lost his job and I barely made enough to cover expenses. I told her this and also told her that her tone was uncalled for and she was not being very professional. Her response?

I currently have about 14,000 in collections and I want to pay it all off the best way possible. I do understand that these companies are just as bad on a credit report as filing for bankruptcy however the accounts I have, haven't had payments made on them in about three years. I am trying to fix all the mistakes I made when I was younger and prepare myself for a debt free future

Worldwide Asset Purchasing (WAP) purchased my credit card debt from Direct Merchant. About 4 months ago I noticed on my credit report that a judgment was place against me. I never went to court for this. 3 days ago I received a "Notice to Debtor of Exemptions from Levy” Letter in the mail from a Sheriffs office that is 200 miles away. This Letter was not certified. This letter does not even have a case number on it. The only information that it has is that it is returnable on 8/5/07.

Well, talked to my debt settlement company today and they told me the card that is suing us wants 200.00 per month. Mind ya, I pay the debt settlement company 400.00 per month. WHICH then leaves 200.00 per month there after. GUESS what? They said that they can't lower my payment to accomodate the 200.00 monthly payment that I need to come up with the difference. I told them that I had no choice but to pay them 200.00 or I would have to drop out of the program. Well, guess what again?

Can someone with experience please tell me the general laws in my state? I've already seen that Payday Loan Consumer site but half the stuff is left blank in terms of Repayment Plans, if criminal action is allowed, etc. I also need to know about how to get Checksmart, and First American Cash Advance to NOT call me at work, or call my references for that matter. Are Pay Day company's bound by the Fair Debt Collection Act?

I am completely over my head in debt with payday loans and I live in the state of WI. I have loans with the following storefront places: EZ Money, Check n' GO, American Cash 2 Go, Northstar, Cashworks and PLS. (I actually have an installment loan & a payday loan with American Cash 2 Go) and an installment loan with USA Payday. And finally, I have one internet loan with Cash Net USA. I am worried sick and really need help as everything is finally going to come crashing down on me. It is very comforting to find out that so many people are or have been in the situation that I am in.

My wages are being garnished $326.00 a pay since May 2006. To payoff the judgment I have found out that the total would be $6918.00. I have had over $9000.00 taken out so far. I brought this to the attention of my HR person and called the collection agency to find out that they have not received any payments from my work since 1/3/07. For the last three weeks I have been getting excuses of my account being researched, phones made to my company and the collection agency to no avail. What can I do? Is there some legal recourse I can take to resolve this matter?
