Payday loan cycle advice

13 years 1 month ago
i live in Texas. I had taken out a loan for 1000 and i was nable to pay any of it so far, only the $205 biweekly fee, which is over 400 now, and my balance increased to 1200. Would i be able to revoke ACH and wage assignments? i prewrite them two checks with the balance. Can i revoke these payments? i am not planning not to repay the money, i just thought id close the bank account and work with payment arrangements later. they also do have my bank account number Thanks Bobby

Board for regular credit topics?

13 years 1 month ago
Hey guys Someone the other day suggested a board for regular credit topics, i.e. not just debt issues. I am not sure if this would be viable but it is worthy of discussion. I feel like we don't really have a board for people without severe debt issues to talk about regular credit topics like best rates on credit cards, loans, etc... the personal finance area is hidden down at the bottom and is really inactive... what do you think?

Is consolidation our best option?

13 years 1 month ago
My husband has 10 student loans that are all in default. The loans were originally taken out through Sallie Mae and are currently being managed by USA Funds/Allied Interstate (a collection agency). We began a rehab program this month and are now thinking about long term repayment options. A few more details: All of the loans are federal Stafford loans. The total amount is currently ~25k. Interest rates on 8 of the loans is 2.39%, and 6.8% on the other 2. The amounts per loan range from $750 up to $5,000. In the future, I expect that we will be pretty financially stable.

I live in mn and just received 2 credit alerts. The first was on Friday saying a credit report from Unifund had been pulled on me. The second was today that Unifund had placed credit monitoring on my account. I don't understand the credit monitoring...what is the point? I have been reading that the are getting judgements in MN by robosigning documents. I don't know what to do next.

Receiving collection letter in US for child benefits received in Sweden.

13 years 1 month ago
I was living in Sweden in 2008 and we had baby born there,My wife received child benefit from local government for maternity leave. We left Sweden in Oct,2008 and moved to USA. I had informed their social security at that time. They paid in error for 2 extra months even when we left the country. Now(Sep,2012) I am receiving a collection letter from US collection agency stating that I was paid more in benefits and I need to pay back, also the amount seems much higher ($15K USD) than I think I would have gotten extra(should be around 3-4K USD).

Zip19 question

13 years 1 month ago
I have a loan with zip19. I've had several with them. I pay it off and reloan every payday. I'm embarrassed to say I've paid over $5000 in fees. So my loan is due soon and I dont have enough to pay it off. The payment will be declined. I am also blocking them from charging my acount. I know it's better to close the account but I can't right now. I am going to send them a revocation of ach withdrawal and advise I've paid way more then I should because all the fees are way more then the principal ammount. Is there anything else I should say? What's your experience with them?? Thanks!

Unpaid Payday Loan

I just got a letter from the Law Office of Daniel M. Slane stating I owe $513.86 and that "continued delay in this matter will not be tolerated. If our office hears nothing from you we will act accordingly." What does "act accordingly" mean? I know there are no debtors in prison but still, a threatening letter kinda set me off edge... I live in Texas, but this law firm is in Columbus, OH. What's going to happen to me?
