I know that if I can just get a loan and have one payment I could get ahead. I am only seeing that you can get help is only if you are already late and behind on your payments. Hi, I have a friend that has a credit card problem. The credit card company closed her account without notifying her and then they raised the interest rate. She admittedly said that she missed 1 payment, but that she has been making more than the minimum payment since that 1 missed payment. My question is can a credit card company do this without notifying you in some way? She called them and the customer service rep told her that she should have gotten a letter, but she never did and that the reason it was closed is because of that 1 missed payment.

I received a notice from a collection agency this week saying that they are collecting a past due bill from October, 1998. I haven't kept any cancelled checks since that was over 8 years ago and now how can I proved that I paid the bill and why am I just now being notified? I live in Michigan, please help!!!
