Being Sued

18 years 10 months ago
I was "served" with a summons regarding an old debt (the summons was left on my porch, and I live in a multi-unit apartment). What is the best response? I definitely owe the money, but have limited ability (make that zero) to make a large payment. I certainly can't afford a lawyer or even legal advice. Can a debt consolidation company help at this point? The short history on the debt is that after I fell behind, I got a letter from the collection agency. I sent a written response and was not contacted again.

Suggestion regarding posts and spammers

18 years 10 months ago
One way to deter the automatic (computerized) spammers is to put in the word/number verification feature. when someone posts they have to type in a word/number to enabled the post to go through. If there is a way to disable this for members then i am all for it but if this type of verification is implemented them spammers would not get through as easily especially computer generated.

Question about this forum

I'm kind of confused about this forum. It appears clearly you have some sort of debt settlement services, yet other companies are moderating. Are you a settlement company, referral source or what? not complaining, just dont quite understand what the model is

What are the fax numbers of United Cash Loans and One step Cash?

18 years 10 months ago
Hi guys! Do any of you ladies and/or gentlemen have the addresses and fax numbers of United Cash Loans and One step Cash? I need both and I need legitimate ones. One Step Cash fax number is not working (at least the one that I have) and United Cash Loans pretend as if I haven't sent them anything. I am planning on sending them settlement letters much the same way as I did with the other payday loans that I had. Notice I said "had". They are my last two internet loans. Your help is greatly appreciated.

Important Message Concerning the Board

18 years 10 months ago
I ask members and guests to please look at the dates when replying to topics. These spammers that are sneaking in are reviving very old topics .I really understand everyone's desire to help anyone on the board. If we can try to check these dates,it will make it easier for the Admins and Moderators to do their duty in keeping the board running. The main reason I ask this is when I am chasing spam I look at the last posted person listed on the topics directory in each board and I am able to remove it rather quickly this way.

My turn...

18 years 10 months ago
(I'm not sure if there showed up earlier so please forgive me)Where do I begin? My husband had major brain surgery after years of testing. So I was taking care of him and my Mom was also sick and I was taking care of her. I needed time for me so I found online g @m bling--started off ok, I would win here and there and somehow one day I was using the money in our savings account and next thing I knew I took out a 10k loan on my own without telling my husband! I don't do the g @ mbling online anymore--I stopped. It was just a way to take me away from what was going on.

The universe hates me!

We received a letter from our bankruptcy lawyer's secretary that he passed away suddenly in his home last week. The letter states that payment for services not completed will be returned when the estate is settled. It also states that we can pick up our file or have it transferred to another attorney. We are going to contact the office Monday morning to determine the status of our payment, etc., but wondered if anyone had any info on what effect this would have on our bankruptcy. Our creditor meeting is scheduled for May 3rd. Any information would be appreciated.

Jury Duty Scam

18 years 10 months ago
I received this in an email and felt it should be passed on. Be prepared should you get this call. [quote]Most of us take the summons for jury duty seriously, but enough people skip out on their civic duty, that a new and ominous kind of scam has surfaced. Fall for it and your identity could be stolen, reports CBS. In this con, someone calls pretending to be a court official who threateningly says a warrant has been issued for your arrest because you didn't show up for jury duty. The caller claims to be a jury coordinator.
