I went in on a very nice apartment with a friend. everything was going good and then she bailed on me leaving me to pay for the rest of the lease and she put stop payment on all of the bills she owed. leaving me with about 1K in utilities and not enough money to pay off both my credit card and the rent and the utilities. one of those had to be sacrificed. I chose the credit card.

Hello everyone! I'm so glad to have found this website. I hope you guys can help me out. Long story short - I have a 20k student loan through Bank One in 2002. My parents agreed to make the payments as a gift. I went to get a mortgage last week, thinking that my credit has been building itself up to success, but no.. My mother decided to quit paying on my loan over two years ago without telling me!!! So now my loan has been sold off to various collection agencies and is now owned by TERI (some gov't agency that insures defaulted loans).

Someone told me today that by making a payment on or even contacting a creditor about a debt that I was actually re-aging the debt from falling off of my credit report. Is this the case? So what should I do? If I make payment on a debt then and I actually extending the time it will be on my credit report. I am new to this site and finding out a lot of interesting information while trying to improve my credit. Thanks in advance for any felp you can provide.

I have two debts from this company. I have written letters to them offering to pay one debt in full and make payment arrangements on the other. It has been over two months and I have not heard back from them. What is my next step? I have not been able to find a telephone number to contact them directly and I want to get these debts left over from my divorce taken care of. Has anyone had any dealings with this company or does anyone have any suggestions how to proceed? Thank you very much for any advise.

OKay well i have been dealing with Financial Recovery Services, INC. They keep calling me at work, to the extent I told them to stop calling me at work. So they called my first line leader. I have probably 2 or 3 notes from him. I again told them to stop calling. Instead they called my next higher, my branch chief. He sat there as i again told them to not contact me at work or during duty hours. They tried 2 or 3 more times to him. Then yesterday i find out when i finally talk to them i find outthat they talked to my first sergeant.

Is there a company that will do a debt settlement with only $6000 of debt?
