Taxes and the CA

18 years 10 months ago
I was contacted by allied interstate in July 06 regarding a defaulted student loan. I mailed a debt validation letter and a cease and desist request via certified mail in late July 06. Allied sent me a billing statement and a form requesting personal information such as SS# and employment and banking info. Allied insisted this info was required to complete the validation process. I never filled out the form and some 7-8 months later, Allied has yet to validate my defaulted loan. Since August of 06, I have made voluntary monthly payments to the US Dept of ED.

can i file banruptcy without filing taxes

my gf has not paid her taxes for the last 2 years because she is going to have to owe money. i understand what she is doing is wrong, but what can i do or say... she wont listen. anyway, she is looking to file bankruptcy to get rid of all her debts. the problem is the court requires w4 (w2? ) forms, right? If she has not filed her taxes can she still complete a chapter 7 bankruptcy?

Want to take collections companies to court

18 years 10 months ago
What is the name of your state? CA About 4 years ago I lived with a roommate whom stole my identity and really did a number on my credit. He was later charged with identity theft and went to jail for it. For the past 3 years I have been fighting to get my credit cleaned up but it has been tough. New items continuously pop up out of the blue and these companies are not receptive to my turmoil I have already endured. My biggest problem is the collections companies selling the debt from one firm to another. I need advice.

Ok so now what do I do?

Ok so far GFSIL has been the most harrassing...They have left nast messages on the voicemail at work(which by the way is not my personal voicemail) stating that I am going to be investigated for fraud yadda yadda...Anyway I have filed compliants with the FTC and the AG of OH..I have sent them letters(8 total) via fax, mail and 2 certified mail which they did not sign for but I know they received the faxes because the won't have called all day and then about an hour after I fax, they start calling. Do I just sit back now and wait? What else can I do?

wait for the DV letter..

Do I need to wait 30 days to send a CA a Cease Communication letter? I received a letter from the CA stating that a validation could take 30 days or more and i do not want to talk or waste anymore time with this. There is nothing on my credit report regarding this debt.I know that I do not have or never had a Capiltol One credit card and according to the agents statement, the debt has not had any activity since 1994. All of you know i could not go 13 years playing dodge ball with capitol one. Capitol one would have a judgement and garnished my wages years ago if I had this account.

What a bunch of cry babies

So you ran up your credit card debt and couldn't pay the bills. You got into a program that would settle your debt for less than what you owed, but were to impatient to let the process work for you. Yea, i ran up my cards too and yea I tried to work with the credit card companies and collection companies myself. oh, yea they would work with me alright and lower the amount I owed, however they wanted all the settlement money right now. I don't happen to have that kind of money. If I did I wouldn't be in this position. I sucked it up and stayed with the program.
