I'm in a similar situation as drjonah in which they claimed to represent Chase Bank, except that these people didn't know my case #. They made me very suspicious when they wanted me to give them my account number and later on my social security number. I don't give out this kind of information to anyone and it sure seemed like they were phishing. Anyways I hung up on these people and called first my only active Chase account and they had no idea who these people are because my account has never been delinquent or sent to collections.

Can someone help me? In January, I received a letter from a collection agency stating that I owed $470 to their client, LVNV Funding. It also stated that the original creditor was Amoco Oil. When I contacted the collection agency, they confirmed my social security number & current address on the account. However, they also told me that this was a gas credit card opened in 1991 and the last activity was in 1992. I pointed out that I was not old enough to have a credit card in 1991 and that I was in no way associated with this account.

Hi, I just recently paid off our credit cards and a PDL thanks, to my loving Grandfather. But, I do have to pay back, but at least I am out of my High Interest Rate jam etc. Anyways, I am repairing hubbys credit report and there are some items that go back to 1998,1999,2000,2001 nothing shows a closed date, but they do show balance date with if so like the one says balance date 9-2001 then paid or paying as agreed the balance amount is $0 can we dispute and have it deleted from the report or do we need to wait longer. I am just trying to get all that I can off the report.

Ok, I see the quick message system connecting people on the board very nicely. It's a good way of knowing people better. While I was visiting different pages, I found some people posted bad messages in homepages of many people. One person was posting the same message to all. So, this makes me think that he is one of those misusing the internet and services offered by this website. This is cyber world. Anyone can post anything and misuse the services. He doesn’t even know the person he is posting to.

Hey I borrowed $300.00 from 10 Dollar payday loan last year and I have been trying to set up a payment arrangment with them, but have had problems. Now they have a lawyer calling me and she says that I have to pay by friday or we will go to court and they will be garnishing my wages. She says that she has made contact with my payroll people and that they agreed to set up a garnishment. Can she do that, I know that my payroll has to ask me first right? Can someone help me before I send these people money. Also, She says I know owe $535.00 is that legal to charge me that large of a fee?

3 Weeks ago I sent a DV letter (with a C&D clause) to NCO regarding all three accounts they have with my name on it. I got the return receipt in the mail a couple days later but the phone calls continue. Not only that but I'm still getting letters from them telling me to call them because I can settle my debt 'for a limited time only'. AND also they are still sending some of the letters to my old address. Something interesting I noticed, when they send letters to my old address in Wisconsin, they mention that they are licensed in Wisconsin.

Hi, I have been struggling with MANY PD loans for months and could not take it anymore. I went to the bank, hoping that they would help me stop one of the more aggresive ones (Cash Net) from making anymore withdrawals from my account. The bank was GREAT - they changed my account to accept DEPOSITS only and gave me a new account. My questions is: now that I will no longer have ANY PDL deductions taken out, how do I handle the payday lenders? I will contact them and make payment arrangements, but I am not sure of my rights, so I do not know what to negotiate. Can anyone help?
