Is anyone familiar with the laws in Texas about payday loans?

I have a question. I am 23 years old and I have a Master Card Credit Card for $6,000. I have been paying but seems like is not enough and now this account is a collection office and they are driving my crazy. Can you help me? i have four payday loans, 1 through the internet, and three directly from the store, totalling about $1800, three have already gone to collections, and two are threatening legal action, how do i avoid any further recourse by them and get out of this debt???

I just wanted to make everyone new to the board aware that payday loans are not an easy thing to get rid of. It seems that lately there have been a lot of generic posts giving people incorrect information about how to deal with their payday loans. The ONLY generic advice, that applies to 100% of the people with pdl's, is the file a complaint with your attorney general's office. Everyone needs to do this, or else these companies will keep doing what they are doing. Even closing your bank account is not something everyone should do.

I received a phone call from a Rachel from Westbury Ventures this morning. She was VERY nice (at first) saying that she received my complaint with the State of Indiana Attorney Generals office. She said "oh please lets work out a settlement". She said you took out a loan through Platium B Services for 300.00. I said yes I did. She said your balance is 300.00. I said well I have paid back 180.00 so far. She said all we want is the principal amount. I said OK. She said how much are you willing to pay.

Hi! I have a question? I have a Collection Agency calling me for a debt that is over 7 years old and is no longer on my credit reports. I understand that it never goes away but it is past the SOL (I live in Florida) which is 5 years. My question is does a Cease and Desist letter stop the calls or what can I do to stop the calls from someone who purchased this old debt? Thanks, Dais
