Okay, now *I* am being pursued by a collection agency for a debt I didn't know *I* owed! I just spoke to the CA on the phone and the guy tried to tell me, since I don't work, they're going to sue my husband if we don't take their credit card to pay the debt off. He said it was legal in the state of Ohio for them to pursue my husband, garnish his wages, and make him lose his paycheck. This cannot possibly be true, can it? I don't trust this guy and he got mad whenever I wouldn't tell him where my husband works.

I am a recent college graudate attemtping to pay off my debt mistakes that I made while in college. I owe prroximatley $1,500 to collection agencies $500 to a credit card I'm keeping up with. Lastley, I owe $1700 to my school based on private loans. With the job market I am only making $22,000/year and struggline each month to pay everything off and attempting to save. I never really learned how to manage money and am in a hole so deep I can barely look out from it, if you have any ideas of how I can pay off the crazy loans please let me know! Thanks, Erin

No need for long explanations of why i did NOT pay on a credit card debt of $5,500 but i didn't. (stupid, i know) Last payment made to credit card company was in December of 2004. In November of 2005 I spoke to a lady working for CACH, who told me they bought the debt which is now $9,400. Why doubled? (btw, she also informed me they bought the debt for $6,000, not sure if this is truth) I then offered to make monthly payments which she declined. I, also, asked for a validation of this debt at that time, she said she would mail me one. Needless to say i never recieved anything from them.

Hope everyone is surviving the time change! We managed to get things changed, but am still dragging today. It took me forever to fall asleep last night. The ole' body was saying....."no, no, not bed time yet! Can't go to sleep yet! Time isn't right." It is definitly going to be a very long day!

A company Asset Acquisition Group sent me paperwork from an original debt I incurred for a car, after I sent a DV letter. The car was wrecked, demolished and never paid due to many other circumstances. I am in better conditions now, except this is way out of the SOL now. If I send a CeaseCom letter will this keep them from calling me or sending me letters? I am overseas so no big deal. Although i am in better circumstances i am not touching this and having my credit demolished after it took 7 years to get back to a clean bill. You are penalized by doing the right things it seems, so I cant.

I'm sure I know the answer to this but, I'm going to take a stab in the dark here. Eventually collection agencies or what I like to call them ( Idiots) know that the consumer has filed complaints? I have already filed complaints on Westbury Ventures on a Ryan Hall. Should I file them all over again because I keep getting these generic emails? I'm not sending them a dime. I am working with the original creditor....

I am 23 years old and have made many mistakes with handling my money and it has done nothing but dig me deeper into debt. I have been on my own for over a year now and see how hard it is to manage money on my own as apposed to living at home with my parents and running to them when I was in a Jam. I recently have been promoted to supervisor at the cable company that I work for and have also been doing much better managing my money, however I am in need of financial assistance in order to erase my debt.

If you were able to sit down in a room with whoever called you from Bass and Associates, and you could say or do whatever you wanted, what would transpire? Me personally, I would first ask why they felt they need to initially threaten people and demean them at their place of work, and if the answer was not to my liking, I would most likely grab my chair and test the durability of it over the head of David Jacobs.

My Wife and I tried to get a car loan. We have a lot of medical collections on our credit. The one thing that stopped us from getting a good interest rate was due to a credit card in my wifes name. The card was opened in 1999, but it shows activity up to 2003 as far as being reported. the debt is still on her credit as of today in 2007! Is the SOL for collection 4 years and the debt removed in 7 years in California? Please let us know, this is frustrating. Thanks TCC
