Hi Guys - How do I add a link when I am responding to a question or a new person in the forum? I feel like an idiot that I cannot direct people to the proper areas ie. state laws. Thanks Colleen

Newbie needs some help.

Hello Everyone. I am new to the site and looking forward to cleaning up me and my DH's credit. Currently we have credit scores in the low 500's and desperatly want to buy a house. However, we have things on our credit report (5,000$) that I want to pay off and have written DV letters and they all have come back validated. My question now is how do I approach paying them off? Do I just send them a check, and how will they report it? I don't know if paying these things off will improve our credit score or not. I have heard that sometimes when you start paying things it pulls it down?

Messege to self

18 years 11 months ago
Hey guys, what do you think about adding a little icon on here, where we could have a little box of reminders? "Messege to self" "To do list" etc, etc Right now, I just pm myself as a reminder. I am thinking about the person who comes on and has alot to do. They could sign on and go directly to it, just like you do when you get your messeges. Just a thought, I can keep pm ing myself, but thought it would be a great addition. But most of the time people think their own ideas are great, lol. Let me know what you think. I emailed Mike on the idea.

Tax deduction - offtopic

18 years 11 months ago
I can't help but post it here to share with you all. One of my friends told me this story just now; it's about the experience of an accountant. The accountant visited a married couple and was checking their tax information. Then suddenly the tax manager asked the guy, "What about the mortgage interest deduction for the condo in Illinois?"... The wife did not have slightest clue about this condo where the guy had set up his mistress. Silence covered the room...what an embarrassing situation

Old US Dept. of Education Loan

18 years 11 months ago
I attended enrolled in a school about 6 years ago, for which I took out approx $6000 in loans (paid directly to the school, not to any of my accounts), and I only attended classes there for about 2 months before leaving. I didn't not go through their entire process as they tried their hardest to make it as difficult as possible for me to leave, so I finally got fed up and told them I wasn't coming back and was finished with them. The amount of the loan was for a 15 month (5 quarter) program, and the school obviously kept all of the money. Long story short, I just found this old debt, still

CRAs reporting different information

I'm currently working on fixing my credit, and I have 2 different accounts on my credit report, both with the same problem. They have been sold to a debt collector. From 1 CRA they both appear under the debt collector's name.

I also was a victim of Bass and Associates a.k.a Elliss Cros

I also was a victim of Bass and Associates a.k.a Ellison and Crosby. I took out two pay day loans. I thought that I had paid then both in full. Now I have Patty calling me saying that I am going to jail for a felony for bank fraud. Patty is at 1-877-281-2220 ext 315. I could hear a a lot of people talking in the background. They never call me at home they call me at work. She always says that she has a meeting and to call her back. She even gave me a case number to give to my lawyer. Then she proceeds to ask me if I had a lawyer. Hello RED FLAG!!!

Need help. 40k in unsec. debt. Negotiation or consolidation

18 years 11 months ago
Hi all. I need some help! I accumulated close to 40k of unsecured debt in 4 years of being a college student. I managed not to get behind the payment with the help of part time job and student loans and grants ( I got 15k of student loans too) I've a got job I start in September, which will pay 52k a year. Currently my monthly minimum payments are close to around $800, and it looks like in a month I will default on most my credit cards. I'm sure I will not make it till September even with the part time job. What is the best solution for me? Will I be able to consolidate my debt?
