Payday loan default

13 years 4 months ago
I defaulted on a PAyday loan last month. I was not aware that my checking account was insufficient at the time, hence the payment kick back unpaid. Now they want to have me arrested on criminal check fraud charges. I paid them what I owed them on the loan, plus fines, etc. But that was not good enough. Then I get a phone call from my local police department (I check the caller ID) on Friday morning saying that there was a warrent for my arrest and that I needed to contact the officer that filed the OCC in that state.

Credit report myths

Myth 3 should be revised. Closing accounts MAY be dangerous due to decreasing the available balance on your credit cards. It is not a negative strike on your credit score to plainly close an account. citi refusing to budge- chargeoff and then back to citi

13 years 4 months ago
I had the account charged off and then it went back to citibank-- they refuse to settle for less than 50% and now interest is being charged again as it is back the bank...i am very frustrated, it's about 10 months past last payment.. What are my next steps? I can't afford more than 25%, and I've begged them..

Update with my ordeal with Cash Call

13 years 4 months ago
So Cash Call offered me a $700 settlement or reduced interest when I filed my complaint with the Nevada Financial Institutions Division. Heck no! I have already paid beyond the principle of this loan that was funded through Western Sky. With that being said, I spoke with a representative from the FTC today, and she stated that I send Cash Call another letter stating that they need to send me documentation that I got this loan through Cash Call, and no other company. Cash Call can't do that because they admitted in writing that the loan was with Western Sky.

Offshore lender/General Agreement treaty with US

13 years 4 months ago
(Hi, I'm having computer problem and wasn't sure if this made it) I live in Oregon. I have a $500 loan with AdvanceMeToday in Costa Rica and have paid $600 in fees. Wrote them to say they are violating Oregon law and their response is below. Are they correct? Also, are tribal lenders and offshore lenders exempt from Oregon law? I have loans with MobilLoans ($500), a tribal lender; Bottom Dollar (tribal?) for $400; OneClickCash, $300); and Insight Capital ($250). Do you know their status in Oregon? I could not find licenses on the state website. I close my bank account Wednesday.

Hi, thanks for all the great info here. I live in Oregon and wrote a letter to AdvanceMeToday telliing them they are unlicensed in Oregon and violating my state's payday lending staute. Here is their response: == Thank you for contacting us. Please be aware that this is a St. Vincent company, St Vincent and the United States are both parties to the General Agreement on Trade in Services, a treaty which specifically permits companies in one country to make consumer loans to citizens of the other. Under the treaty, we are only obligated to follow the federal laws of the United States.
