Midland Credit / Emerge Visa / Farrell & Seldin Attorney

18 years 9 months ago
If you previously had an account with Providian Visa, now called Emerge and they've sent it to attorney's Farrell & Seldin BE AWARE that you can not trust these people. I had an old visa that I stopped paying on (my daughter had a stay at a mental hospital and I needed all monies for testing etc). I stopped paying in 2003. I never heard anything from anyone until the doorbell rang at 9:30 p.m. and they served my 12 yr old daughter with a summons for me to go to court. First of all this is unethical and probably illegal. A court date was set.

What collection agency is NRS? Is that Nationwide?

18 years 9 months ago
I had a cell phone bill go to two different collection agencies. While I was making a deal with one agency the other suddenly started demanding money from me, calling me at work when I asked him not too. I went back to the first agency and asked them to resolve or I would contact the attorney general and then I get this letter from NRS that this account has been resolved. Not sure who NRS is, maybe Nationwide?

Complaint against GFS

18 years 9 months ago
I have a $200 loan out from GFS. When I opened the loan I was told there would be a $45 finance charge. The total repayment was 245. I called them to pay my entire balance and was told I owe 270!!! They've already collected $155. This was not my understanding. Do I have to pay them a total of 355? I've closed my checking account and opened another. Also, if I tell them to stop calling my place of business do they have too?

Need to stop Arrowhead from debiting when not supposed to...

18 years 9 months ago
I live in Pine Bluff, AR and recently took a loan with Arrowhead. To date, I have had to pay $108 in NSF fees because they are not debiting my account on agreed dates. Further they take an additional #30 which was not agreed upon either. I'm considering contacting the Better Business Bureau to force them to conduct business with me as agreed by the both of us. My return fees are $27 a whop. How do I stop them?

I was incarcerated for 4 years, when I came home, I had an exellent credit score because my mom used to use my social to purchase things, so I recd. credit cards, cell phones and anything else i could to make it out here, after 48 MONTHS of having nothing, I bought everything I could. Before I knew it i was head high in debt and still have problems managing money. Now I have rent, and bills and can't aford to do anything but make my rent. Being a convicted felon, I did not realize how hard it would be to find a decent job. Now I have an O.K job, but I only make ends meat.

My debt is settled but am still being collected upon?

18 years 9 months ago
I have a settlement receipt from a debt that was settled over a year and a half ago. I recently received a letter from another collection agency for the same debt. The new agency is being very uncooperative and rude. I have faxed them a copy of this receipt four times now and they have said they have never received it, it has been taken care of or a myriad of other excuses. What are my options?

Seemed like a good idea....

18 years 9 months ago
I thought I did a good thing by contacting the creditors on my credit report and attempting to set up payments so that I can clear the debt away. Now I may be facing a lay off, and the amounts I set up originally are more than I can handle since I have to prepare for a move out of my apartment by February 1st. Do debt collectors/agencies have programs for hardships available or can they threaten me for wanting to lower my payments? Please advise..... Thanks, Trying not to cry in Michigan
