I received the following e-mail from Rio; they want to settle for the principal (which I already paid, but anyway...) - Do you guys think I should just pay this and not fight them anymore? By the looks of things, they are taking my account out of collections, so that's progress. I made a complaint with my AG office, but haven't heard back from them. Any suggestions?

I just received a phone call from a foreign lady saying that she was from my bank and needed to verify some info. I asked her why she needed to verify some things, and she said they were updating their files. I knew this didn't sound legit, so I asked her what bank she was calling from and she couldn't answer me, she just hung up. It was an "out of area" call so my caller id didn't pick the number up.

Omigosh..A friend of mine got a letter from a collection agency, and she really doesn't think the debt is hers. Obviously she needs to send a validation letter, and she knows this, but she asked me for advice on how to write it. Well, the only thing I really dealt with was payday loans, I've never had to send a validation letter. I searched and searched for a sample letter, but can't find one. Can someone please give me a sample letter? Thanks!!

I recieved a very strange call today from a woman claiming to be from the Arizona AG's office. She stated that US Fast cash had marked my account as paid in full. But than she told me that there is no intrest cap in Arizona. And that I shouldnt expect their help with these loans. I know for a fact that their are laws on pay day loans in Arizona and there is an intrest cap on them. What do you guys think? Plus the tele number came up with only 4 digits?????

Hi: Am in need of some debt consolidation and/or settlements - I have a debt of 6500 $ on 3 cards and the interest rates are killing me at the moment. I have fairly decent credit score - but the minimum payments are way too high - and will not make it for me. My options are the following: 1. go with the freedom point company, which is under care-one credit counselling. they seemed to have a decent plan and their fees were 9$ a month. 2. Hess Kennedy in florida.

I recently took out a loan with Check n Go. Before my loan was due, I was laid off. The loan payment due is a little over 1,000 but they keep attempting to draft $178, $177, and $176 from my account on the same day resulting in $105 in bank nsf charges every time they do. I have asked that they stop so that I can afford to send them money but they refuse. Is this legal in Texas?

Well I was contacted by this company regarding a creditor that was placed with my debt settlement company. I'm trying to find more information on that but no such luck yet. I also sent an e-mail with my debt settlement company. I made the mistake of mentioning that I am with a debt settlement company to him. My debt counselor said this was a mistake. This guy was a real jerk on the phone. I got the standard we don't work with debt settlement. He stated they sent me a letter last week but I haven't received anything yet. Of course, he would not give me of that information on the phone.

I am submitting a complaint to the ag in ohio after going to the bank to dispute my case w/ dms xpress, but they can't take info w/o address etc. Today i finally got a phone # for them. They've taken out 720.00 for a 300.00 loan and now they want 480.00 yeah right!! They don't even have a copy of my contract because there isn't one. Help!!

I guess changing your home phone number and paying extra to get the number unlisted means nothing nowadays. A collection agency left a msg. on my voice mail last night, and I know for a fact that the creditor who turned my acct. over to this CA did not have my current home phone # when the acct. was active and in good standing. Another of my creditors that I have put in my settlement plan called a few days ago while I was at work, but did not leave a msg.
