New Mexico payday law

Hey Guys this was also in the paper today hot off the associated press. In New Mexico, the industry sued and a judge has issued a preliminary injuction on a state law that said borrowers could renew payday loans only twice. This is disturbing because what judge could side with a payday loan company. This is sure not justice. KYSIDE38

States where triple interest is prohibited

Hey Guys, Hot off the associated press today. Twelve states prohibit triple digit interest on payday loans. Arkansas, Connecticut, Georgia, Maine, zmaryland, Massachusetts, New Jersey New York, North Carolina, Pennsylvania, Vermont, and of course good ole West Virginia. If you reside in one of these states and have been paying high interest to these internet sharks stop. It is illegal. KYSIDE38

If someone like Bill Gates were died in a plane crash If Bill Gates were died in a plane crash. He might find himself being sized up by God. "...Well, Bill, I'm really confused on this call :? . I'm not sure whether to send you to Heaven or Hell. After all, you enormously helped society by putting a computer in almost every home in the world, and yet you created that ghastly Windows 95.

Scams!

I see more and more people coming to us on here about these scams for loans in large amounts if the applicant will send hundreds of dollars for "insurance" or other such nonsense. Then this person waits for their loan and eventually are out their moneys! Wonder if we can get a sticky on here for this scam?? Such as beware...read first..or something? What do you think Vikas??? These people need to contact the FBI and file complaints. Most of these alleged loans are coming from overseas too!

secondary charges

I recently went on line and checked into a few different pay dy loan companys, i never did enter into an agreement with any of them because the intrest was so high. But now several days later my checking account is being charged,$49.95. $39.95 and $21.95 all steming from pay day loan companys. These charges are being listed as 'secret cash card, or asset.bids. I can not get anyone at these companys to give me specific names of the companys. What should i do?

Hit them where it hurts!

I received an unsolicited check from HFC in the mail today, $7000 at 29+% ! Maybe this is too easy, but let me know what you think: If I strikeout all of the text on the check that pertains to the loan, is this a valid defense against collection. Do I just get to keep the money? I have a friend with an MBA & she says that the check is just like any contract, subject to amendment! If this works, and many of us who receive these can cash them without repaying, then you know these preditory lenders will stop using this tactic- I'd love to hear your thought!

Open CC accounts with no limit, close them?

I just obtained a copy of my credit report and see that there are several CC accounts that have no limit and no balance, yet they are still open. Should I close these accounts? I also have accounts that have a balance (which is being paid by a credit counseling service) and no limit and are still open. Should I close these too? Jill

American Debt Foundation=Trouble

American Debt Foundation has totally messed up our credit. We have cicil summons against us. Our debt has grown in the past 5 months. most of our creditors have already handed everything over to debt collectors and law offices. We cancelled our account last month and they still pulled money out of our account on the first, so now we have to go through the mess of disputing the charges through our bank and still have to wait 30 days till we get our money back from ADF (minus there outrages fees of course) Do Not Do Buisiness With American Debt Foundation!!!!!!

I defaulted as of yesterday

I am in Va. I have several storefront PDLS's which I had been juggling for months. I had been reading this forum and considering what to do but was actually forced to take action when my boss cut my hours this last pay period. I am now in the process of calling all of them. One woman actually told me she would loan me the money personally to pay back Check N Go and that I could pay her back. RIGHT! I don't think so! So it's about to get really ugly. Any advice? Thank you!
