Where are you at? I have not saw you around. How is your debt settlement going? Any major complications arizen yet with any cc's? I am so confused....with it. I am wondering after paying 4200.00 if I have done the right thing or not. I have looked into bankruptcy but really, really think that the settlement is still my best option. What do you think?

Is it true that if you file 4 bankruptcy that you turn over your income tax returns for the rest of your life??? Someone told me this. Just curious.

Hello, Currently I'm a full time student, with ~ 31,000 in CC debt. As far as assets are concerned, I have a home (~65k) and a car (~1k) that I own, w about $500 in home equity. I have never missed a payment on my home in over 2 years, and there are no leins on my car. My CC history was impeccable until about 5 months ago. With unsecured debt, what are their options? I live in Indiana. Can they take federal student loan $$ if I deposit it into my account? Can they put leins on my house, car, etc. if they sue for a judgement? Thank you, guesty

I have a lot of credit cards and i would just to put all the debts of the credit card into one account in order to be easier to pay them off quicker.

Can a collection agency charge interest on an account they have had for a while? The debt is genuine. I just called to settle with them, and they are tacking on an interest charge of close to $500. Can they do this?? They also said that in order to accept a settlement, they must run my credit report, and wanted to know if I was trying to get a mortgage, so they could try to remedy this without running my credit. HELP PLEASE!!

I apologize immediately for posting this again because I posted this in the wrong area...this was supposed to be a new topic. My mom doesn't speak much English, so I'm taking care of her creditor problems for her. She got a collection letter from a law office working for LVNV Funding for an old Sears account my mom used to have. My mom thinks the account became delinquent back in August of '03. We're in CA, so the SOL is 4 years on this debt. So LVNV does legally have a right to go after her for this account for another year.

I received a summons today for my First Heritage account. It says I owe $504.37 + $168.13 in lawyer fees + court costs. My date is set for 8/30. Can I contact First Heritage and try to pay this before hand, so I don't have to go to court?

My wife has two store front payday loans.And we had to get a new car because the other one broke down.She has Check n Go and a another one that is not a big time and is only one company.The last one is the meanest one.We never had a problem with them,but I have seen them come to peoples work to ask them where is the money.They will not take little monthly payments.The other reason why we need to get out of these loans is because SouthCarolina is thinking about making them illegal.With the new car payment we cannot pay the payloans anymore.

Geneva Roth has performed an unauthorized debit from my checking account for $571.50. Apparently, I have a payday loan that was defaulted, but they can't give me the name of the payday loan company. I am going to file a dispute w/ the bank, but the person at Geneva says they will present a document to the bank and the money will be paid. Can Geneva Roth go into my checking account w/out my specific authorization? What if the debt is valid? The woman at Geneva said she would fax me the document I signed for the loan, but she hasn't faxed anything.
