I know I'm an idiot--but VIP has now debited my checking account $1600 on a $500 loan. I saw there were taking "chunks" and figured they would stop when they got their money plus interest. When I called the very foreign "cutomer service" number he said that I haven't paid any money toward the "principal" on the loan. He further informed me that It will cost me $400 more dollars (in two installments) to "get this taken care of". I felt so violated. Now you want 400 more dollars?!

I'm in over my head. I was a substitute teacher, but there were so many that I rarely got any jobs. Nor did I have healthcare, so every medical expense was out of pocket. To save my friends house on 3 occasions from being seized I paid the delinquent taxes and had him sign promissory notes tied to his property. He was going to share ownership with me this summer and I was to help fix the place up. This plan didn't happen as he pass away recently. I filed a claim for the funds I loaned but was told my notes were past the statute of limitations by the heirs lawyer. Is there any chance I could recover these funds?
