It Seems That The Creditors Get Angry...

19 years 7 months ago
It seems that the creditors really do get angry when you deal with a debt "settlement" company rather than a debt management (consolidation) company. It seems they will follow suit and sue you faster if you have a debt settlement company working for you. You would think that if you have your debt settlement company send out the DNC letters and try to help you with settling these debts they would be happy to work with you....after all , they are not getting any money right now out of you and at least they would get something...right? WRONG.

How Do I Get a Copy Of My 3 Credit Reports

19 years 7 months ago
Please tell me, if you know, how I can get copies of all the credit reports, on a regular basis, to monitor a collection agency's reporting inaccurate information. I have already gotten my three free reports for the year. I need to check my reports, monthly. thanks.

collection call

I received a phone call at home from Midland Collections. THe rep was very rude and insisted I give him the last 2 digits of my SSN. I asked who the creditor was and when he finally told me I knew I had never done business with that company so I refused to give him the numbers he requested. He threatened to hang up on me & was very rude! He refused to give me his last name. How can I lodge a complaint?

Garnishment an d Financial Hardship

19 years 7 months ago
I'm really needing some advice. Recently my wages have begun being garnished the full 25% for an old debt. I'm currently having serious financial problems and I need to try to get that amount reduced. I have every intention of paying the debt, but my take home after the garnishment will not pay the bills. I'm confident I would qualify for financial hardship, I have 2 children, both under my custody, normal car, home and utility bills. I can't afford an attorney, how would I go about getting the amount reduced until I'm doing better financially? Thanks for any help.

Ever heard of these two CA's?

19 years 7 months ago
My county (DuPage county in Illinois) has announced they have contracted with AlianceOnce and Harris and Harris to collect on outstanding fines from the circuit court. Under Illinois law they have up to 20 years to pursue collections of these fines. Has anyone ever dealt with either of them?? What were your experiences?? Good or Bad? I plan to use input (if bad) to present to the County Commission. Are either of these companies fdcpa or FCRA violators? any info is greatly appreciated.

registered a couple of months ago and never received a call

19 years 7 months ago
I never received contact from whoever it is that is supposed to contact me when I signed up on this sight in April. I'm very interested in consolidation but need some guidance. Is there somewhere on this site I can go to to get someone to call me? I tried to enter my information in again, and it just said I'm already a member (so I suppose that wasn't my solution). Thanks!

Looking for some answers

Ok, here is the deal. I have 4 Chase cards which equal to around $23,000 in debt. The problem is my credit score is still at 700, I have never had a single late payment in my entire life on any kind of loan. I currently rent with my wife, and I am going to school in the Fall for a final 9 months before graduation. I am trying to sort out what option is best for me, In addition I will need more money to cover my cost of living for the 9 months I am in school, I will not be working. Should I try to consolidate the CC debt now and get an additional loan to cover my costs during school?

Consumer Credit Counseling Services

I have used this company and they are pretty good. However, when they told me that there was no charge, I did find that they were keeping $20 of my payment even though they are a non-profit organization. When I asked them why they did that, they told me that they are funded through donations and the $20 a month was a donation. A donation that I wasn't aware that I was giving. Eventually, the "donation" increased to $25 or $30, and I was notified of it by mail, but wasn't able to not agree to it. If I didn't agree to "donate", I was taken off of the program.
