Nationwide Express Loans

19 years 9 months ago
Has anyone had an encounter with NEL aka Nationwide Express Loans. I was lied to by someone named "Amy" she said I would get a personal loan I sent her $250 as an "insurance" fee via overnight fedex. I checked the tracking number and never to hear from her again. I only have a fax # 800-934-9245.

I have maxed out my credit cards

19 years 9 months ago
I have maxed out my credit cards, (in both my and husbands name) and am sinking further and further trying to make minumum payments, of say, $1500 + a month, thats just cc bills, NOT other regular everyday expenses. What can I do? are these debt consolidation places legit? safe? expensive? One place I called wanted 15% of the total balance due, and where do they expect you to come up with THAT money, if you can't even pay your own bills????? I need some input here, either that or I need to win the lottery. Thanks.

PDL's: Licensed or not?

19 years 9 months ago
On the Texas Department of Banking's website, they have a list of active "Money Services Businesses Licensees" in Texas. I'm not sure how this works in other states, but does this list mean that if a PDL company that loaned to me is not on this list then they may not be licensed to practice in Texas? Or does it just mean that although they can;t have an actual business in Texas, they can set up shop in another state and lend to people here? Confused....

Validation Letters

19 years 9 months ago
If I am sending in a validation letter regarding a debt I supposedly have, do I send that to the original company or the collection agency? I received something from Palisades Collections regarding an AT&T account that I "owe" $76.81. Because the company is no longer around, since they were purchased by Cingular, I'm trying to figure out who the letter needs to be sent to.

SRO Brenner American, INC

I received a collection letter from them today stating they are collecting for Prism Capital Resources on dvd's we purchased in 2005 in the amount of $47.60. I have one problem, we don't have a dvd player so why would we need dvd's? Your guess is as good as mine. What kind of dispute letter do I use beings this is not our debt for once?

I just received this email from Mypaydayloan.com...a WEEK after I consolidated them with T&C!! They're CRAZY!! Quote:
"Dear Customer, In an effort to offer you new and improved services, we are happy to announce that we have launched our Credit Extension program! The new service will allow you to request additional funds before your loan is paid in full. For example, if you are currently borrowing $300 and your maximum available credit is $500 you can request an additional $200.
