My husband and I mulled over both credit counseling and filing Chapter 13. We were scared into Chapter 13 and paid hlf of a hefty retainer fee this weekend. Now I am not so sure that it was the right thing to do. If we decide to try ccounseling instead, can we get our deposit back from the bankruptcy attorney?

I had this bill on my credit report. It was actually something that i had signed off for my brother years ago and i didn't know he didn't pay his bills until now since i got my credit report and am trying to obtain a mortgage. I called the collectors and they told me my case was handed off to a law firm. Since i wanted to get this done with, i called the law firm and wanted to make a settlement. That was on 3/17. They said they would send me a bill and then i would pay the debt.

This company has taken nearly 720.00 out of my account within the past few weeks. I dont even know who they are. Does anyone know how I can get the phone number or address to them so I can get to the bottom of this without changing my checking account? I have put in disputes for the transactions, but I want to make sure that it doesnt happen again.

We puchased a home last May- my scores at that time were 586, 611, and 642. Not great, but not so bad that we couldn't buy a house. We may have to move due to a job relocation, so we are discussing selling our house. I was curiour to see how much my scores had improved- we had been told a mortgage paid on time could really help improve scores. So- long story short, I pulled all 3 reports and now my scores are 577, 579, and 636. How can they have dropped?

I was wondering if anyone has had dealings with them. That scored an "F" on the BBB site. What is going on is that we are making payments to them through our credit counselors and they continue to call stating that Bank of America won't work with credit counslors and we need to contact Bank of America? I just think this is strange and they are cashing the payments and even state that they are receiving payments. Basically they want to settle the account and state we are only paying the interest. The account is closed, so there shouldn't be anymore interest charged.
