Mr. President has signed the Deficit Reduction Act for this year. DRA aims at reducing fiscal deficit of federal governments. This year govt. has shown their concern for students from lower income group, patients, and retirees mainly. It is quite true that unless you stop overspending, you cannot fill the deficit on your funds. As per as fund for student aid in concerned, subsidies payable to banks and lenders, insurance coverage for lenders against default are going to be reduced. A move is expected towards steady rate of interest on student loan too.

Hi Folks, As most of you know, I am slowly digging myself out of the payday loan trap with the help of a debt consolidation program. I have learned my rights and today it seemed to have paid off for me. I sent a letter (form of debt validation) to one of my payday lenders asking for an itemized statment, breakdown of payments, if they are licensed to loan money in my state. I added a few more things of course. I gave them thirty days to reply to the letter which they did. Shocking huh? LOL!

Anyone dealing with these guys? I am getting no response from them.. I won't call them..I sent an email and a letter, I changed my bank account 3 weeks ago, my loan with them will be 2 weeks overdue on thursday..They have not contacted me at all. I don't know if that's a good thing or a bad thing. I only owe them $150..Should I just keep sending payments?

Hi, Not sure about the cease and desist procedure..I am paying off 5 payday loan companies. At this point they are all 2 and 3 weeks overdue, one is a month. Also, they are all relatively small amounts, the highest being 300, most being about 150. I am sending $100 a month to these guys, paying off 2 at a time then moving on to the next 2.

I received a call this afternoon from 1-713-341-5533. I thought it was a patron at first because they were asking me for the address of where I work. Then she asked if "my name" worked there. I said that I was that person. She said that I owed $150 to Preferred Cash and that I had 48 hours to pay the money. She advised me to get a lawyer after telling her I didn't have the money at this time. What should I do? I don't doubt that I owe the money, but I simply cannot pay it at this time. Please advise. I am thinking about consolidating debt. I have been doing some research, and I see that there are a lot of things I should be aware of. I am almost reluctant now that I've read about the scams out there. Any help would be great. Any companies that could be recommended would be appreciated. Thanks for all the help

Hello All!! i just pulled my equifax report & have some questions. 1) I have citibank credit card that i paid off in 3-02 actually it was settled but equifax doesn't say that. The only derog is feb 02 for 60 days. acct opened in 1995 btw. should i dispute this & hope they don't find out it was settled??? Settlements stay in report for 7 yrs? How long will a derog late payment? I have afew settled accounts already. I wish i had known at that time what a negative impact a settlement could do. thanks for your time. Rach
