Question about letter of validation

19 years 5 months ago
I have recently recieved a letter from a lawyer stating he planned to sue for a outstanding debt I have. This debt is getting old and I believe might be past the SOL date. I have tried contacting the original company that gave the loan to find the out the date of last payment and they will not give me any answers, only tell me to contact the collection agency that is handling it. Does anyone know if this is the correct way to obtain this information? Should I send a letter of validation to the collection agancy or to the lawyer that is now contacting me?

Multiple Returned ACH Debits

19 years 5 months ago
I received a phone call stating that since I had 6 returned ACH debits (all from the same company because they decided to run them through that many times), they had the authority to issue 6 misdemeanor warrants and send an officer to my job to arrest me unless I paid the debt immediately. Is this possible?

Bergen-Boesch threatened to arrest me if I don't pay them

19 years 5 months ago
Anyone heard of Bergen-Boesch? They appear to be a collection agency for National Money Store, who has threatened to arrest me if I don't pay them. I have been reading the forums, and is it true that the company needs to send me something in writing before anything like this can actually happen. I looked them in on bbb.org and there are no complaints and their address is 17117 Westheimer Suite 32, Houston TX 77082-866-777-0977

    Consolidation vs Settlement revisited

    19 years 5 months ago
I have been doing a lot of research on this issue, and have been wavering between which route to choose. I have read a number of links in this forum that deal with the issue, but I still have some questions. 6 months ago, my wife and I were thinking of buying a home and were pre-qualified for $150,000 mortgage with no money down (about $4000 in closing costs) at a very competative rate. Instead of buying a home right away, we decided to wait for awhile to pay down some debt and save up for a higher down payment. We were able to live rent free in my brother's appartment during this time.

No response to validation, what is the next step

    19 years 5 months ago
Once you have sent a collection agency a validation letter, if they do not respond in the 30 days, what is the next step in removing these from my credit report? Also I got a thing from a collection agency from a debt from 1997. I realize the SOL is expired, if they do not respond to an SOL letter, what is my next step? I love this board, Im so happy to have found it. You guys have wonderful posts!!!!

Hospital and CA are confusing me, how to remove negatives

    19 years 5 months ago
Does a creditor have a certain amount of time to let a person know that they owe money? Short story....I found out I had cancer in 1999 I never received a statment from the hospital letting me know I owed $282 they turned it over to a collection agency in I think 2000 or 2001 but I never heard from the CA either. Come to find out both were sending the collection letters and statments to a address that I had not lived at for 7 years. I didn't have a clue I owed this hospital any money. As soon as I found out I paid them.

A large amount of debt shows charged off

    19 years 5 months ago
Hi, I just pulled my credit report and much of my !5k debt shows charged off. I ahve a laywer or two coming after me. Can I still do any type of debt consolidation? If so, can I get a better pay off rate since the original debtor sold my account? Some of the companies want me to pay half and they will go away but I can't do half right now. Thanks, Hope

Need help in Payday loan consolidation

    19 years 5 months ago
I called the number on the website, and the counselor advised that there is not an option for me to consolidate my payday loans. But readin through the forums it seems that you can. Does it just depend on what state you live in?
