I am being sued by these people. I received a letter saying that the plantiff has won a judgement against me and this is my last chance to make payment arrangements or they will enforce judgement and make me go before a judge to garnish my wages and\or my bank account. This is a very old credit card bill. Can they do this? Where can I go for help? Thanks for any help.

Can a debt collector legally record coversations without telling the debtor first and if they inform you that they are recording the conversation, do we have the right to refuse being recorded? There has been certain instances where the collector calling has not stated the call is being recorded, but there is a beep every few seconds and after hearing that can we legally refuse to continue conversation?

These people are very rude. They first called and spoke to me last night. They told me that they were going to file felony charges against me today if I did not give them payment over the phone at that minute. He asked if I would settle out of court and I told him yes that I would, but I needed a letter in the mail with the exact amount and I would get a money order out to them. I REFUSE to give out my banking info over the phone because of past ID theft.

I defaulted on my loan with Universal Cash Advance. They called me and made a payment arrangement in November and made a withdrawal I asked when my next payment would be and her reply was someone would contact me. Next thing I know I'm getting a call from american debt collectors I set up 2 more payments with them three days later universal debits more money out of my account so I call american debt and I say who am I supposed to be paying you guys or universal she gets universal on the phone and gives me a name at universal and says to call them she doesn't have 3 way calling.

I had a collection item in my report regarding an old cell phone bill from 1999. I disputed the last date of activity for this item with Experian and Transunion. The report said the last date of activity was end of 2000 which is nonsense. Transunion deleted the item from my report but Experian claimed the debt was verified and it kept it on my report. Then I got a letter from the CA saying that they noticed I disputed the item and they only said if they could be of any assistance.

So I received a debt settlement offer from Midland that is significantly lower than what they claim I owe. So can I send them a money order with a letter requesting them to remove the listing from my credit report or what should I do in this case?

Hello, For probably the first time since I joined, I have a question for the experts. I just viewed my credit report, and nearly fell out of my seat when I saw that my open (not defaulted) student loan accounts and recent inquiries have lowered my score. Why is that?
