I have a similiar problem to Mike G. Redline Recovery Services keeps calling my phone number looking for some person who apparently had this number before me. They call constantly and I have now spoken w/ them twice to stop calling this number but to this date have not done so. Can I use a similiar "Cease and Desist" letter to these people to get them to stop calling my number. However, I do not want to disclose to them my name and address, as they only have my phone number. Is there a way to do that?

I paid for something with a check and we were hoping to get the work to put this merchandise in a vehicle. Then my husbands knee went out and we did not get the work because he had to have surgery and was off work for 3 weeks. I have paid back almost half and do not deny owing the rest, but the company that bought the check is calling me 2 & 3 time a day and when I talk to them they call me a liar and are very rude. I am going to pay for this but my bank won't loan me the money and I am trying. Thank You Nancy

I would like to know if a Collection Agency can collect an debt without a License?

My husband and I recently got his credit report. There are two accounts on there with very similar account numbers. One being Wash Mutual/Providian, the other being LVNV Funding. Providians says "Charged Off" in the amount of $2588 with a high balance of $2715. LVNV says Credit limit $2715 with a recent balance of $3056. Correct me if I'm wrong, but I thought that once your account goes to collections, it stops earning interest. So if this is the same account why did the balance go up so much?

I have one account which I have not used since 1997. It says never late/inactive, paid in full as of 1997 and has a credit line of about $2,000. Even though I have not used this account is it good or bad for my credit? I have heard it's good because there is no negative reports but bad because it lists as credit I have and perhaps makes me look overextended??

I have a car loan from 1999-present. I have not paid on it since 2000. The car was totaled from a accident which I didn't get enough money back from the car insurance to pay off. My ex has not paid his part on it. I am remarried and we are wanting to buy a house. But I have this hanging over me. what canI do?
