Collection Agency trying to collect written off debt

I have an adverse entry on my credit report, dated May 05 for a AT&T wireless discputed balance. Per AT&T Customer service Rep this disputed balance was written off in October 04.
How do I deal with the collection Agency to get them to reverse their entry?
Getting the Job After Bankruptcy

I filed bankruptcy in October due to a growing debt and fear of ending up in civil court over my bills. This was the best thing for me to do overall, but now I am looking for a new job, one that does a credit check. I have worked for this company in the past as well and have a good history with them, but now that it looks like I will be a re-hire, I am worried about how my new credit status will look to them. Will this keep me from getting my new job? You thoughts, please. Thank you!
