Hi, I have been put in a bad situation because SJM has been double dipping in my account. For the last three months, they have taken out $150 each other week, for a $200 loan. After going to the bank, I was told this is a common practice, then I signed some papers automatically stopping them from doing it. BEWARE

very old government student loans doubled with interests

20 years 2 months ago
I have a government student loan that has doubled with interest because it is over 10 years old. I have had a rough past but am trying to start my life fresh and have been paying the student loan now for 10 months, $95 a momth, they still continue to add $20 late fee extra every month but I struggle to pay this off. Now, just last month I was contacted by a collection agency collecting on an old "Perkins Loan", another school loan. It was originally $925. and now is $2,914 and change.

Check before closing your credit card accounts.

20 years 2 months ago
Hi Before you close any credit card account, look into the following situations:
  • Cancel those credit cards that show the zero balance. Pay off your dues before you close it. The lenders will be able to verify your accounts if you want to escape the debt.
  • If you are thinking of closing your account, do not let the lender understand it. If they get an idea about your intentions, they will jack up interest rates on the unpaid debt.

Use these tips to protect yourself from credit card frauds [list=1]
  • Keep a watch on your credit card when it is used by the merchant. Try not to let your credit card go out of your sight.
  • Do not give your credit card details over the phone to someone who does not have an authorized identity. Besides, companies doing legitimate business will never ask for your personal information over the phone.
  • Do not respond to the mails that ask for your credit card information. Some mails redirect you to a website to verify the personal and credit card information.

No to loans, just pay off?!

    20 years 2 months ago
You are saying to not get a loan to pay off other debt, but if it isn't so much the unsecured debt, but the every month bills such as gas, electric, ect. how do you suggest staying current with everyone if you are just trying to make ends meet with the most needed bills and not have anything left for the unsecured debt?
