Is Capital One a good company to deal with? How willing are they to negotiate

I believe I just recently went into default on my student loans, I believe, as I suffered 4 strokes and, was getting better from them and let go of all things financial for someone else to care for during my rehab. But now want to and need to go back to school but do not know how to look up if I have outstanding loans or if I am still OK, to go back and get loans, I know I am going to need letters to the school telling them why I should be let back into school after leaving 2x's without notice.

I am trying to pay any collections from the past, but can't figure out who to pay. Some of the collection agencies on my report say they no longer own these debts. after how long to transfered or sold off debts post to my report? Also, is there a way to find out who I need to pay? Thanks, Joe

Over the spring I managed to default on several student loans, both Federal and private, thanks to some fmaily and financial difficulties. Once I discovered the defaults, I tried to correct the damage. My private student loan company refused to allow me to rehabilitate the loan in any way other than my paying the third-party collections agency it had been sent to. The collections agency offered me a settlement of $10,500 ($2K less than the loan amount), which I paid them three months later when my mother's life insurance paid out.

Do I have to own a home to talk to a consultant?

They will only report a settlement as settled for less than full. So I guess I am going down. They will charge off the account on 10/30. What would you do at this point? Should I pay off the settled amount and try to deal with that later, or wait till it goes to a collection agency?

My son is gonna join college next yr. Since he's completely dependent on me, thinking for some parent loans. Can anyone out there explain the aspects of parent loans? How to apply for it?

Are there any companies that consolidate pay day loans? I was working with BHR but they are changing their policies and I was wondering if there is another company that offers the same services.

I keep getting recorded calls from ADC saying they are making a decision on my case the next day at noon. I have never heard of them and they dont use my name so I don't call them back. There is no way to press zero or anything during the call to talk to a real person. The recording is even static-y and old sounding. This has been going on for 1.5 years. I bought a house 1 year ago and they weren't on my credit report then so I am 99% sure that the calls are for someone else, maybe someone who used to have my number. Should I call them?

I have been getting bills mailed to my house for services I did not receive or even want. They were for calls to 900 numbers. The first time I received one of these letters, I did not pay attention to the addressee name and opened the letter. When I opened it I saw that it was for someone else. The weird thing is that the account number (which evidently is the same as the phone number) is the same phone number I had 6 years ago at a totally different address. The bills keep coming and I want them to stop.
