I have WAY too many credit cards that I got right away when I was 18 and went nuts on them. I am not even 21 and I am so far in debt. With all of the loan scams that are out there preying on people with bad credit, there are some things to remember. I know people get desperate (I myself have been) but be careful when applying for loans or responding to an "approval" offer for a loan. A legitimate lender will never ask for money in advance. It is illegal for them to ask for money or receive payment before the loan is given to you.
