My mother was in a car accident in 2011. They other person has filed a $24,000,000 civil case against my mother who was disabled at the time of the accident and sustained a traumatic brain injury in the accident. I just checked my credit report and found two entries I am not familiar with. First, LVNV Funding, shown to have been opened in Nov 2006 as a personal loan, with a high balance of $8973.00 and a remaining balance of $13408.00. Not only do I not recognize LVNV Funding, but I am not aware of a debt in the amount reported. I haven't received phone calls, letters or any type of communication from this company. I live in SC and hope to find a quick resolution to this issue. My credit score is much lower than it was a year ago.

I have been reading much of the dialog for debt settlement with Discover. I am current with my minimum payments but simply can not afford to keep this up due to the economy like so many others. I have a stellar payment history with them. In fact I would have paid off the actual balance already without the interest being added. My rate is ridiculous and it was not from missing a payment or being in default, but from being late. And those times were few and far between. I need to get out from under this noose as everyday it becomes harder to meet my commitment.

What I want to know is how come no one seems to know who the reputable companies are that offer debt consolidation. People never hesitate to talk about who the scam artist are. Why not talk up the good companies so other people can be helped. Being in debt is frustrating enough without having to "GUESS" who is a good company and who isn't. :confused:
