will debt consolidation affect my credit negavtively?

I have to say what a GREAT site! well my problem is that I was going to sign up for a debt consolidation program but had difficulty comming up with the money to pay the innitial payment and continue to pay my regular bills. even after discussing all my bills and coming up with a monthly payment plan I would still be $62 in the hole every month! my credit is in good standing my credit score I beleave is around 660. I pay all my bills on time and just barely squeek by everymonth.

i was contacted about a debt recently by a debt collection agency. the account (health club membership) was opened in may 1996 and the last activity on the account was october 1996. the account was opened in florida. i moved out of florida in may 2002 and i now live in virginia. i believe the statute of limitations has passed for the debt in florida (i think it is 5 years..) is this correct? which sol applies - florida or virginia? does this matter since i think the sol in virginia is 6 years? thanks

OMG I cannot believe I found this sight, these people from Ellis Crosby and Associates called me and my boss today saying I had committed fraud because somehow when the loan was sent to them my ssn was transposed and that they were going to subpoena the hard drive on my computer and I was going to get fired. They told my boss EVERYTHING. How can it be fraud? I applied for the loan myself.

I am not working due to illness.Is there any way to do something about the late fees and making arrangements with a total income of only $350.00 a month?

Hello, I am constantly getting calls from an agency about a bill I owe. Originally it was around $30.00, not it is up to $349.00 with the sure charges of late fees. I get a call every other day, and on a few occassions I have received more then one call a day. I have been told an attachment will be placed on my home. What rights do I have? I have offered them my original amount of $30.00, even 1/3 of the $349.00 I was declined. What can I do now, as I am not in a good financial situation to pay the account off. Thank You

My 82 year old mother is being harrassed by a credit card company that she is behind with in payments. She has not used this card in over 5 years, made payments though not always regularly, and the total amount due has gone from $6000 to over $10,000. She receives only a social security check, has no property or car, and has absolutely no way of paying this bill. Multiple attempts to discuss the matter with the credit card company have been futile - they say they will accept a lower payment one month, but the next month will include the difference.
