Overwhelming odds

Hello, I currently have an outstanding amount of debt. There are a few delinquent accounts some "Charged Off" accounts and a few that are still collecting listed on my credit report. I am not slowing getting back into a financial area where I would like to start paying off some of the outstanding debt, but I don't even know where to begin. Becuase there are so many outstanding debts listed I am unsure of where to get started and how to pay them all. I have money to put towards debt but which ones do I leave outstanding until I can pay on them?

Not cooperating

I was having problems paying a debt of an old CC that had been closed in approx 2007. I had been paying regularly until I lost my job. I called and tried to work with them. I tried to change my info online as I moved and changed my Phone number. It would not accept it online. I called and tried to work with the company. They wanted all back payments before they would even talk to me... INCLUDING taking my correct info. The company was taken over by the Federal Government in the process of me being late. Everyone who had credit with that company had their accounts closed.

Credit Help! Paid off tuition after it went into collections

So here's my dilemma: During my last semester at a state university, my mother whom I am a dependent of, lost her job. Throughout my college career she has been the one paying for my tuition but was not able to pay for my last semester. My tuition then went into collections and is now, unfortunately, negatively impacting MY credit score. Before finding out that we should have proposed a PFD, we have paid the collections off in full. Now it seems as though I am stuck with this for many years and I am desperate in finding some way to have this removed from my credit report.
