Questions on Two Debts.

13 years 2 months ago
Awhile back I was in good standing with Capitol One and they were actively increasing my credit limits every few months. But at some point I fell on hard times and ended up not only maxing out my card, but going into collections. I made several attempts at paying them, but they all fell short. At some point the debt went from Capitol One to another Company, whom I had started making monthly payments to.

Plain Green loans

is Plain green loans illegal in the state of Texas? The loan was $700.00. I have paid a total of $570.81 I was advised that is was illegal and should close my account and only pay the principal which leaves a balance of $129.19. Has anyone had any dealings with this company? I do know that there are only three on line payday loans legal and licensed in the state of Texas and those are: CashCentral.com, ChecknGo.com and PayDayOne.com.

CashCall (from Western Sky)

CRA's won't remove it. AG won't do anything. FTC never answered. Guess what...the info on this site is great....and the sample letters to send to illegal lenders are great in theory. BUT, when dealing with a giant like CashCall, it doesn't work. There is not one, single instance of anyone here or on any other board having any sort of success getting CC to accept the principal only. The best offer I received was a $1200 payment for a $1000 principal and they would mark the account "SETTLED IN FULL" on my report. The only way out of this is to pay them the principal, the bullshit "origi

Broke, no property, considering bankruptcy for PDLs and CC debt

13 years 2 months ago
I am broke, have no assets other than a couple of computers that aren't fully functioning and a used car that I am still paying on. I got sick, got behind in bills, utilized pay day loans to survive, and well, got behind in all bills, etc. to the point that I feel my only reprieve, aside from suddenly having like $10,000 to pay down my debt---which I would be so grateful for, but not likely to happen---is to file for bankruptcy. Are there any non-profit organizations that can help with bankruptcy?

PayDay Loan now w/ McCallahan Law Firm? Affidavit filed for Fraud???

13 years 2 months ago
Ok, so, part of me rationally feels that a legitimate law firm would not 1) let me know that I was being sued for fraud via a recorded phone message, 2) would not then ask me for a payment when I call, and then hang up on me when I said I did not have money that day and 3) would not leave repeated voicemails to my and my friend's phones about my being sued and there being an affidavit for fraud. But, the other part of me doesn't know what to believe, as someone threatening to sue me is a very scary thing. What can I do?

Over my head in debt

13 years 2 months ago
For the last 25 years I have owned a successful environmental consulting firm. Recently, we lost significant amount of money on a major contract which got my company in a terrible situation. My company is in debt for over $1.2M. I have tried to keep the doors open for almost a year, but my debt is accumulating and I don't know how to get out of it. I was told to close down the company and claim a personal BK. I don't believe in stiffing people and i want to honor the debt. But don't have any money. Please tell me what to do?
