If you and your computer have ever had the misfortune of being attacked by a Trojan Dialer specific to 900 numbers, you more than likely have been dealing with the likes of EBSI (Enhanced Billing Services Inc) & Integretel (Both are Billing Aggregators) from entries on your phone bill. They are representing the internet scam outfits such as MMI Communications , Information Services and Live Interactive to name a few.
Unauthorized and evasive charges have been placed there by these organizations via the malicious dialer which accesses international 900 number sites. The only time when you are made aware of this activity is when you receive your monthly telephone bill.
The general rule of thumb is: when you challenge these bozo's (Aggregators) after their uneducated telephone reps accuse you or someone else in your household of accessing pornograhic websites, they tend to back down and credit your account (without any word of apology of course). You would tend to believe that this was the end of the matter.

Not so I am afraid, because waiting in the wings, months later are the lowlife bottom feeding debt collectors. These unsrupolous characters buy up old telephone records and debt from even more unscrupolous vendors and go after for what they can get. This is where you may have had a call from a Mr.David or others threatening you with lawsuits, disconnecting your phone line and further harrassment, without fully identifying himself or their client, which is the law.
If you do not challenge this moron on initial contact he may stay on the line long enough to tell you he represents the law firm of a Paul Kupferstein & Associates. Otherwise, he hangs up. The phone number they tend to call on is (905) 474 3535. Investigation of the number gives the address as follows:

Liability Solutions Inc
4981 HWY 7 East
Unit 12A, Suite 267
Markham, Ontario
L3R 1N1 Canada

Thats right Canada, They are also located at several other addresses including PO Boxes, and they are all located in the Markham area. They tend to move around a lot! For peace of mind call the RCMP Phonebusters 1-888-495-8501 or Recol 1(888) 495-8501 hotlines (same number) and your State Attorney General. The Law Society of Upper Canada are also very interested to hear from you. (416) 947 3310. They and the RCMP are very much aware of the activities of these scam artists in their area. This is total fraud and none of it would stand in a court of law. They are preying on vulnerability and fear using scripted scare tactics. Just ask your Attorney Generals office.

This thread has been started to put a case history together on victims and consumers they have targeted. If you are a victim please highlight your case on this forum so that we can get a portfolio of sorts on these crooks, and present it to the relevant authorities, and for general peace of mind. The more people who make complaints the more likely they will get investigated and have their illegal operation shut down. Take note they will infiltrate this forum with bogus victims who apparently ended up paying them after going through the courts. It does not happen! For further information on Kuperferstein and Co. check out further listings about them on this website through the following link:

But Mr. Kupferstein is attempting to collect a debt in the US. That makes him governed by the US Fair Debt COlelction Act. I'll just keep saying it over and over and over, because I am right and you are wrong.

Oh Jedi, you are a difficult one. As much as I'd love to continue to go back and forth with you about this - it's exhausting me. I'm not wrong.
I also hate when you guys come back after my posts and twist what I've said into something that's more suitable to you. Don't do that.

How did I twist it?

And how about I call my other couple lawyer friends and get their opinion on the FDCA and how it applies to a Canadian debt collector with one single employee that is a registered lawyer. Maybe my Attorney General will have the answer. For someone that isn't a lawyer, you sure seem to talk the talk like one.

You don't lie about how the law applies to you. I said it before; I'll say it again: you think you got a leg to stand on - sue me. $2000+, babycakes....come get me.

Hey, I bet this guy would have some indebted customers!
Never in a million years did I think this site would actually provide leads. How about that!
I know my post is in bad taste - I'm just making fun of the free advertising this guy is looking for. LOL

Jedi you were probably told that your amount for example was 326.00 but if this was not paid it could cost you up to 2000.00 if we proceeded to court. Not that you owed 2000.00. We all know what you said that you have been through but enough is enough. Your barking up a dead tree.

I am not going to bicker. As I said before I don't know you or your case. But this is how bull starts with how people say stuff nobody told you that you owe 2000. Thats what you choose to hear. So don't insult me. Also client can't get blood from a stone perhaps they choose not to proceed. Got a complaint take it up with the company that sent you here. It their fault not ours.

Wow. You're right. When Juan David said I needed to Western Union $2000+ by 4:30 or I will be sued, I was hearing things. Thank you for clearing that up.

Quote:
It their fault not ours.

It IS your fault. See - It was your company that tried to collect on a debt that is a total joke. It was your agent called me and treated me like dirt. And it was your agent that cursed at me, threatened me with jail and procecution, cursed at my wife, and cursed at my friend.

Then, the moment I mentioned scam, it was your agent that stopped calling and attempting to steal my money.

Don't want to bicker? Then don't come back. I have spent many hours showing how your company is a scam and loaded with crooks, and you have done nothing but hide in the shadows and make false accusations. You have ignored every possible attempt to show just a bit of normality. Instead you have allowed members of your company to come to this site to belittle and degrade us. This could have been laid to rest MONTHS ago with a few simple answers to a few simple questions, but you have not done the right thing, because all the while, you sit in you little Markham tower and continue to rip off people with your illegal activities.

There are no companies that retain your services. You guys obtain the information by purchasing old debt and you ignore the laws of Canada and the United States with your collection procedures. You are a joke of a "law office" and joke of a "collection agency".

Your day will come. Just because you don't make the calls doesn't mean you are not liable for the illegal activities of your employees.

Good night.

Jedijeff13, why do you continue to post your lies. There has never been any debt purchased. No laws are ignored and/or broken. You could just be some guy with nothing better to do that attempt to cause trouble. You've dared, threatened, and posted brutal lies. I don't know where you get off! All you've done is cut and paste, over, and over again. You've proven absolutely nothing, because you've nothing to prove.
No laws have been broken, no debt has been purchased. (although many companies do purchase debt, it's not been done here)
I think all of this is making you a bit crazy. You think contact ended with you because you mentioned the word 'scam'? It ended becasue, like Janet said "you can't get blood from a stone". You know Jedijeff13 if you purposely continue to post these slanderous and defamitory remarks it may be you day that's coming.

So you are going to claim that Juan David stopped calling me because he knew he wouldn't be able to collect on this debt? Again...what kind of crappy debt collection service do you run? That excuse is pathetic. How long do you expect to stay in business if you simply stop doing work you were contracted for becuase you felt you couldn't collect on my debt?

Readers....please. I can't be the only one that finds this claim by Janet, Charline and the rest of the company to be a total joke. Am I?

And I have MAD cut and paste skillz! You are just pissed cut I cut and paste laws that you break on a regular basis and make your company look the way it really is - like crooks. I also cut and paste because every time you speak your lies, I like to show the truth in someone else's words instead of my own. You see - I can say what I want, and it's up to the person reading it to decide what is the truth and what isn't. But when I cut and paste the words of a government official, you can be pretty damn sure the person reading believes me.

Oh.....I love the internet - have I ever mentioned that? Look what I just found, that I am SURE both you Janet and Charline, will attempt to discredit me:

Let's start with this link:
collection-agencies-usa.com/CollectionAgenciesReverseLookupDirectory5.html

Feel free to search the page for "Liability Solutions" - it's down there a bit. Ok - 27 from the bottom. Look at that phone number. It's different from the one on their website. The website lists 905-474-3535, but on this page, we get 949-439-3324. Look up a little higher and we do find the 905-474-3535, but it's for a company called Waters Law Office. Janet/Charline - you better sue the owners of the webpage - you guys are TOTALLY misrepresented....

Back to that new number. I wonder what we get if we punch that phone number into Google. Oh look.....

debtconnection.com/blisting.asp?20

There they are again on the Debt Connection page that hooks up debt buyers. And it's a NEW company name - SER Solutions. For the record, here's what a "predictive dialer" is:

en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Predictive_dialer

Remember - Liability Solutions and Paul Kupferstein are "lawyers" and not in the collection agency business.

Now here's where it gets good. This SER Solutions does not appear to be related to the real SER Solutions (ser.com). So we call this new number and we get.....NOTHING! It appears to be someone's home number.

Ok - I have to go meet with some friends. This was a fun track thru the internet. I hope to be able to do it more real soon. Until then, it's goodbye from me, and goodbye from him.

Ya know - some weekends just catch you off guard. They can be sad. They can be informative. They can be interesting.

Mine....mine was awesome.

See - I'm a Christ-follower. I see Jesus as this amazing person in my life. He helps me along His way, and I do the best I can to listen and not screw it up. Some days I'm good, while others, I fall short. But I am given grace on those days. And He keeps helping me to learn better what I am and what I am to do.

So this weekend, my church reached the launch point of our Next campaign. This is a challenge to all that call my church their church home and get involved in helping the next 5000 find their way back to God. See, when you look at it, it was someone I'll never know that pledged money for me. Their pledge helped create each campus, and in turn, more found their way back. So our goal is to be ready for the next 5000 people, and in that, the next 7 church locations. Well, I had already made my commitment to the next 5000 a week back - it will definately be a financial sacrifice, but I know it is important. It is important because I can reach someone - if just one - and no one is left behind in God's family.

Well, during service, along with making their pledges, we had the chance for people to make spontaneous baptisms. We normally have that the third weekend, but if the Spirit so moved, we were ready with shirts, shorts and towels. I was hoping just one each service. That would be awesome to see - just one at 9:30 and one at 11:00. To have that spur of the moment decision would be awe inspiring.

We had 10. And that was just the first service. Another 4 the second. 14. Fourteen people stepped out in faith to profess they will follow Christ. That, people, is awesome!

So, why do I say this? And why do I say it here? Well, I think the time has come to just leave this as a position of disagreement. I know my experience with the Law Office. It is well documented throughout this thread, so I certainly don't need to hash it again. In return, I know Janet and Charline's position on their company. That, too, is well documented through this thread.

So since we are where we are, let's just be civil, and agree that neither will change the other's opinion, and let anyone who reads decide what they determine to be accurate.

Is this me "throwing in the towel"? No. If, by some chance, I find any information I feel is relevant, I will bring it up. But. let's face facts - we have beaten the crap out of this horse. It's not even fit for steaks anymore. :)

At times, while I never intended it to go in a personal direction, I have said things that were unkind and personal attacks on Janet and Charline. I will admit I was always attacking them on a Law Office employee level. But there were times the attack ran up and crossed the line, and became personal. For that, I ask for your forgiveness, Janet and Charline. Away from this situation, you two are great people I am sure, caring, loving moms and wives (I think you are both married, right?). Away from this situation, we could be good acquaintances. So I offer a hand of friendship (don't worry, I washed it :) ). I don't do this to be the "better man". I do it cuz it's the right thing to do.

Let me close with something I hope Janet and Charline will agree with me 100%. Maybe, just maybe, we can finally agree on one thing:

If you have a debt, pay it. Now, you have the right to have that debt verified, so if you don't know the debtor, ask for proof. If you are getting treated poorly or threatened, don't fall into their words. You have rights - no debt collector can take you to jail or have the cops show up at your work until you have received proof of your debt by postal mail. Stand firm and get that proof. If you do, honor your debt and repay the fair amount. If you don't, do not stop demanding for proof, and do not give any money nor bank information, no matter what they threaten. And if you happen to get a call from anyone at the Law Office and you are treated poorly, contact Janet or Charline directly, and hopefully they can help you.

And please - if you can truthfully prove this company has helped you, show us. I am the eternal optomist - just once I want to see it happen. Amaze me. On the other side, if you feel this company has treated you poorly, please tell us.

Ok....can I get some help off this soapbox?

Jedi I have alway been nice and friendly with you or anyone else unless i was insulted. Yes I am married and have beautiful children. Yes I forgive you even though I understand that you get a little frustrated once in awhile. We all do. Charline is also a very terrific person and she only wants to help. I will continue to do my very best to help people if the need is there. If you are a religious person then I believe that god said to help people and thats all we can do. Good luck to you and I hope we both can help people in the future.

Lynda, according to the fdcpa "debt collectors are not allowed to collect debts without a proper debt validation letter. Within five days after a debt collector first calls you up, he must send you a written notice stating the amount you owe, the name of the creditor to whom you owe the money and what action you should take in case you don't owe the money." Canadian-FDCPA-Fair Debt Collection Practices Act.

That I never doubted. I found one company called "Liability Solutions" in New York. But when I referenced Liability Solutions here, it was because I had found a phone number or an address that matched the ones on their website. I never posted anything that did not match the company in that manner.

I, too, have been contacted by the "Law office" 905-474-3535, in regards to owing the CASH STORE over $900. I have a receipt to prove that this debt was paid, yet this company has called two contact people and threatend them with a lawsuit along with me. This is not possible, as these two people were not co-signers nor did they sign anything (which would make them legally binded to the debt) Any future calls received are going to be recorded ( notifying the caller that the conversation is being recorded). I am from Canada and I feel bad for the U.S citizens that are receiving these harassing phone calls as well. Upon the first call from the "law office", they are required by the fdcpa to send written notice to you, including-amount owed-name of the creditor-what action to take if you do not owe this money. I requested this information and was told that they could not do that, but, in fact they were going to draw up the lawsuit papers within the next 40 minutes. Also did you know that under the FDCPA "debt collectors MUST NOT contact you when you ask them to do so. You must ideally inform the debt collector about this in writing. In conclusion, Debtors have the right to SUE the Debt Collector within one year from the starting date of a violation, according to you. DEFINITION of DEBT COLLECTOR - any person who regularly collects debts owed to others. This also includes LAWYERS who collect debts regularly. If I owed this money it would be a different matter, but, as I stated, I have a RECEIPT of payment for the amount requested by this "law office". Hopefully this will help some people with their inquiries.

Clearly " guest" you do owe this law office money, they only contact you because there client has asked them to do so, maybe thats because your cheap a** does in fact have a debt! and if you do have proof of paying this debt then maybe you should fax over these's so called receipts, to these "collectors" and they'll stop harrasing you.. how hard is it, but no you havent thought of that because you probably are a Liar. And remeber even if you have paid, the people working at this law office arent the ones to blam for this mistake there client is retard, there the ones whos sent the paper work to them.. Or maybe your welfare a** has taken so many out, you cant remeber which ones you've paid back, if you want the so called "harrasment" calls to stop, maybe you should stop taking out money and not paying it back. And whats recording a converstaion going to do for you, absolutly nothing, considering there probably doing the same, and they will use that against you!!! Come on use your head, have you not noticed that everyone says there going to sue that company, and charge them for "stealing" your money.. BUT Look no ones come back saying they succeeded, so get over it loser!!!

Profane lang deleted. Mr. Miles, please don't repeat this or I will have to be strict on you. - Mike

Or, I am sure you will stay here and belittle me with you sad attempt to sound intelligent. And call me a few choice names, claim I am a dead beat and a f*%$ung loser. Go ahead - say it. People as lacking of grey matter and honor such as yourself only know how to act 10 years old. At best.

First of all the "law office" is not recording the calls because by law they have to inform you that you are being recorded, this has not been done. I do know that recording the harassing calls are accepted in court as long as you inform the caller that they are being recorded and will be used as evidence. I would have no problem faxing my receipt, if the"law office" would abide by the proper regulations of debt collecting! They would not accept a fax! There has been no letter of validation sent. I don't know how much of a professional person you are that you would use such inappropriate language in support of this company. Trust me, all legal avenues have been allocated. Just for the record, I dont know where you are getting your information from, I am not on WELFARE. I work at a Court Building, thank you. I have witnessed the PROPER ways that Small Claims Court works. Also, the company is not being "sued" for stealing money, they are being sued for violations of the fdcpa!!!! Maybe you should submit replies when you have proof or know what you are talking about.

Also - don't forget that you can record any call you want without notifying the other party. The issue on notification has to deal with whether the phone call can be used as evidence in a court. If your state (or country) requires two-party notification, then you cannot enter that recording into a court case unless the other party approved at the time it was recorded.

But if guest....say....wanted to record the call and then post it on this board for all to hear, he has every right.

Well guest, your wrong unlike you i have no problem telling you my name, but as for me working at this law office your wrong i dont even live in canada, i feel this way because i used to be a collector, a few years back.. im sorry you think im rude, but all debtors b**** about being on welfare and claiming the never owed this money, but they could never fax the proof.. i no theres people out there that have finanical problems but god dont take out money if you cant pay it back.. Your probably right these collectors for this firm proabably were extremly rude and sometimes its uncalld for, but try and be in there shoe's, there only trying to make a living themself like i was, and ill be honest i hated working for a collection agency its difficult work and its hard istening to peoples life stories, but its a job and if thats whats needs to be done, than do it.. these guys from the kupferstein office have to be tough, they have a mission, and unfortunalty if thats means being a little rude and tough, if they want to keep there jobs. But my main point is dont judge them, there probably very nice, and yes there not to blame!

They, like all the other debt collectors, have to follow the laws, which means sending debt verification when asked and not threatening court or jail in an attempt to get money. If they did not verify when requested or threatened arrest, they broke both US and Canadian laws. Since I wasn't there - I can't be sure what they said. But guest says they did that, which is a violation.

The fact is, the "law office" would not accept a fax. I just want them to abide by the guidelines that are set out by the legal system, which they have not. Send me a validation letter and I will gladly fight it in small claims court. I am not judging them as a "whole", I am judging them based on the treatment that "I" have received. There are rules and regulations to everything and in this case they need to be followed. There is no room for ignorance. Also profanity is not a way to create a positive reputation. They also should not classify all debtors into one web. Apparently they are and are continuing to do so. There is no need to be belligerent to every client. That is stereotyping. I was told that I could not send them anything, that they were proceeding with court papers. I have contacted a lawyer and will just wait, with receipt in hand. I accept your apology for being rude.

look guest, im sure they will accept a fax, if there saying the wont, why dont you ask to speak with the supervisor or ask the reseptionist for a fax number. if your so concerned about this, then im sure theres a way to get around the issue of them not accepting it. and as for there rude coments, remember all employes are trained on what to say to debtors, and if there saying there going to take you to court, than that probably is a possiblity, my best advice would to have your lawyer call in to these people, dont ignore there calls because that only dig's deeper and they will keep calling.. and if there not sending you paper work to prove you owe this money, than contact the place where you owe the money too, or again ask to speak with there boss..

As for jedijeff, im only calling people those names because thats what they've referred to themselves as when i again used to make these collection call myself, i dont recall classifing all debors those names.

I would recommand talking to Janet. She has offered assistance many times. Start with her.

I know the collectors that call from there have been classified as "pretty rough" by many people on this board. I also know people have called Janet and she has been very kind, considerate and helpful. Go with her and keep us informed.

Mr. Bell..I read your posting and it ticks me off. You have no right to insinuate that Guest is lying. If he/she stated that they attempted to send a fax and were told the Law Office does not accept them, then why not take him at his/her word. The same thing happened to me and I couldnt figure out why they wouldnt want proof that I had paid the debt. Why would this Mr. Shaw not take my new address to verify the debt? Why would he claim that he was going to call my elderly mother and sister into court(after I spent time in jail), and then proceed to tell me, he didnt know why they would be called??? What!!!!! It's maddenly that people like you come on here and predict that everyone is lying. Show me the proof of supposed debt and it would be paid. If you hated to work for a collection agency, then why come on here and defend them? Why have I not heard from them? I sent a letter for proof of supposed debt and low and behold, nothing in return. Why? If I owed this supposed money, why havent they sent me a letter. Its been almost 2 months since the phone call and I only live 60 minutes away from Toronto. Does it usually take that long for a company to send a debt letter? Mr. Shaw claimed that I needed a lawyer to bail me out of jail, if I didnt send the money that day, asap-and yet they cant send me a letter within 2 months????? HMMMMM What would you think if you were in any of our shoes. I will tell you>>>Exactly the way we are. I know that there are many people out there that will attempt to rip off companies, but for those of us that only ask for verification, are knocked down and called liars by you good people. Just send the info we request and if we owe, then we will pay...in the meantime, I am still sitting at home patiently waiting for the police to arrive. I sure could use a couple of days rest in jail. lol

Guest--Too bad no one is going to go to jail over owing a debt. You can not be arrested for owing a debt. They quit chopping off people's hands a long time ago.

And I DO care about painfullyaware's situation, and all people who are being harassed for a debt that the DO NOT owe.

I also care for the honest collectors that are just trying to do their job...I had a medical bill from a car accident placed with Physicians Credit Bureau. I worked with a girl named Marina. She was awesome. I loved her. And I even had a soft spot for "Carlos Santana" from Arrow..Both of these people were polite and provided the information I asked for. Their job DOES include providing the information the consumer needs to determine if they are paying correctly. I live in Ohio...Can you tell me why I owed a debt to Nebraska Furniture Mart? It's called Identity Theft, and until you experience it for yourself on your own credit report you'll never understand. And it happens more often than you would think.

We have the right to ask questions and ask for proof of owing the debt. If it's legit, you will have the proof. Send it to those who ask for it, and you will be paid. If they don't pay after you validate, then shame on them. But not shame on us who are not going to pay a debt that does not belong to us.
