Basically long story short is that I am in a DMP and have most of my creditors in it. I have 2 creditors whom are not and 1 is from Dell for an amount of $1600.00 and one that is an AT&T Universal Mastercard for $3600.00 ARS has the Dell account and Capital Managment has the Universal account. ARS called about the Dell account I only answered 1 call and a guy offered me a settlement of 50% I told him I would have to get back to him as I don't believe the $1600.00 was the correct amount. The people from Capital Managment were strangly enough very nice to me and stated they would accept lower monthly payments but offered me a settlement of 35% that could be paid in 3 months. Now I just started working again so I can't really benifit on any settlements just yet and the Universal card worries me the most. How should I handle these 2 situations? Should I ask ARS(Dell) to validate my debt with them and would that affect a future settlement oppurtunity? as for Capital Managment should I try and get on some lower monthly payment with them? Is any of that even worth it? Basically I do not need to get sued by either of these 2 which it would screw me pretyy bad! Thanks in advance for the help!

Yes- from the Dell one (ARS) still a couple days within the 30 days to dispute deal or whatever that is and as far as the Capital Managment from AT&T ...No not recently at least within the past 6 months or so but when I call universal at and t they direct me to them so I do know they have the account... also I noticed on my credit report that AT&T universal pulled my credit last at the end of july? Not sure what that was all about...

Well, you have 30 days after receipt of the first letter of collection to dispute the debt and request validation, you SHOULD do so, it's VERY important that you sned them a debt validation letter!! Make them prove to you that they have the legal right to be collecting that debt. It's too late for Capital Mngmt but not for the other one. Read the link below on debt validation:
