Spouse negotiating???

14 years 7 months ago
Hello. This group helped me a bunch with my personal credit card debt and I'm on a 0% interest 5 year payouts on my accounts and it is working so far. I recently married last September and then in March my husband's company restructured and he lost about 35% of his income to keep his job. The amount he is short each month is exactly the amount of his credit card payments. So I told him to stop paying them all back in March. The calls are really increasing now and he wants me to negotiate with the companies. He received a lump sum severance that is about 50% of his credit card debt.

Chalk one up for the little guys

In January, I got notice of a suit in small claims court. I immediately sent a DV letter, and eventually got a very weak reply(for those who say it is too late, I completely disagree, especially in Texas). After a lot of help from the forum, I filed an answer and a counterclaim (always file a counterclaim. There are almost always some violations.). Today I got a letter from their counsel, requesting a mutual dismissal. I will respond this week, but could use some help on a good letter of settlement. I want to make sure it includes a trade line removal and release of future sale or assignment.

Dismissed Chapter 13

14 years 7 months ago
I claimed Chapter 13 in Sept 2008. In April 2009 I lost my job. I was told by my lawyer that I had a 6 mo window of time where I could make no payments and I would still be able to continue my chapter 13. I anticipated finding a job within that 6 months but did not. I am employed full time now and recently one of the collection agencies have tried to contact me. I have not responded to them (they made a second call today) because I'm not sure what to do.

Quick question I am unclear on this

14 years 7 months ago
I have a question and I am unclear on this. I am in New Jersey and I have a disoute against Directv and the Office of Consumer Protection is involved, now they sent the account to a collection agency and I sent a dispute how about today I checked my credit report and it is showing up as negative how can it happen if the Consumer Protection is involved and it is in dispute. Is that legal?

What does this mean

Hi, I live in Louisiana, and never had a payday loan before. Why is someone from NCW calling and threatening to take me to court next month?

Agreement

14 years 7 months ago
:twisted:I had the same experience with this company. We had made an arrangement to pay off a credit card, they were taking money out of my checking account every month, then started calling again to collect lump sum. Stated they had listened to the tape recordings and that was not the agreement and that the company that they were taking money out for would not agree to these terms anyway. I told them they were liars and scammers and to quit harassing me, even though they were withdrawing money anyway.

Collection lawyer threatening to sue

14 years 7 months ago
Hi. I hope you guy can help me. My debt is 30K and is now being handled by the lawyer for Riverwalk Holdings. The lawyer is threatening to sue, and in fact they claim they have already served me, which they have not. I have never been in this situation before, and I have no idea what to do. I'd like to offer a lump sum payment, but I don't know what to begin with, and I haven't even got close to the amount of the debt. How should I go about dealing with this? I really appreciate your help.
