Please help! My wife and I are on a calling list of a company asking to speak to someone with my name. This has been occuring over several years. The calls have increased to once or twice a day within the last month. My wife asked who is calling and the party identified or answerec S & S. Do you have a suggestion how to best handle this pain. I just received a letter from this company about an old Sears account that is at least 8 or 9 years old possibly even 10. The are offering a settlement of 167.00 even though it says I owe 1100.00.. do I pay this or not? I do not want to be sued by this company..

Tri State called me for Total Lending saying they were going to garnish my wages and put a lien against any property. The debt is 3 years old, last activity on credit report was Aug of 09. Any help would be appreciated. Live in Mississippi

The USDE just sent wage garnishment papers to my employer and I just wanted to know if I was not working the first part of the year can they still do that(are there papers I can fill out to fix or maybe start over again)? Please Help, I messed up.

I just got a call at work from someone who had an accent asking for me. It showed up on the caller id as Florida but no number. I told them I didn't work there anymore as I suspect they are scam artists because they sound just like the scam artists I have dealt with in the past threatening me for PDL I supposedly defaulted on but didn't. I also noticed on my cell phone that I have been getting called from 000-000-00. I never answer it as I know its a spoofed call and they never leave messages. I guess someone is out there selling my personal information again.

Hello, My wife received an Earnings Withholding Order the other day that takes effect in 2 weeks. I reviewed the case information and it was given a default judgement. There is also an entry for Proof Of Svc Compl/Pet/Summons from last July, but we were never served. Is there anything we can do at this point?

I got a debt collection letter from Weltman, Weinberg & Reis around October of 2010 saying I owe a credit card debt and if I do not contact them with in 30 days I will owe the debt so I sent them a Debt Validation letter and I got nothing back until today May 6, 2011 and all they sent me a letter say this is the documents you requested for verification regarding the referenced debt and only included the original contract from 7/7/2001 and nothing else. Shouldn't I have got proof of payments and the amount borrowed? I live in Illinois isn't there a statute of limitation?

I just received a letter from Marcadis & Associates, P.A. today about a debt I owe. Actually they sent it to my parents house in FL. I see they are based out of Tampa, FL and I used to live in FL till 2008 but then I moved to GA, and now I am in Ohio. My question is can they practice law in Ohio? I search and googled for the past 2 hours and all I find is them practicing law in FL. Another question then is this: If they can't practice law in my state of OH, then what should I do next?
